there is alot of ppl who do fail the drug test..when i was hired they sent 15 of us to the hospital for drug testing and only 8 of us came back clean...and for the record deal..Walmart isnt suppose to hire anyone with a record so there isnt nothing being done wrong for not hiring them..and with the deli they do that ever week when the 3rd shift person is off that night..thats how it worked when I was there.

Smokezilla wrote: WalMart has done what WalMart always does: They come into town, lay on the "we're all about pleasing the customer" routine until they run every Mom-N-Pop business into the ground, then they cut back their staff to next to nothing so they don't have to pay out anything. They rake in MILLIONS here in Pikeville and put next to nothing back into the community. The employees get little pay, virtually no benefits... It's the way they do business. They could care less if you have to stand in line for a half-hour to pay for your groceries... They know you don't have many other choices. You are absolutely correct. When they first came here, my husband said exactly the same thing. We DON'T have many other choices, so they got us over the proverbial barrel. I was looking for something in the make-up dept. one day and I just couldn't believe how empty it was. Hooks and hooks with nothing hanging on them. I seriously thought about taking pics of it and sending them to the head office. Then I went to the household cleaning aisle and it looked the same way--empty shelves. I don't know how aware corporate is with the problems in the Pikeville store (or if they even care), but it might be worth a shot, don't you think? If enough of us took pics, sent them in with a written letter of complaint, then they just MIGHT do something about it. At least we'd be taking SOME kind of action instead of just complaining about it. Walmart has gone to hell in a hand basket since the death of ol Sam.

Oh, forgot something. I wanted to take a second just to recognize an outstanding cashier. His name is Jarrilyn. I probably really effed up the spelling of his name. He's tall, black hair (a little long) and wears glasses. He is efficient and very friendly. I try to get in his line when I can because I know I won't have any problems. So...hats off to you!

the truth wrote: Drug testing is not the main problem. Discriminatiom is. the manager Matt Wallace is headed for some lawsuits if he keeps it up. He will not hire anyone with any kind of arrest record, no matter how insignificant, or what it was for unless he thinks it is aa pretty woman. That is pure discrimination and something needs to be done. Everyone makes mistakes, including him, but people can change. I also hear that the ugly, fat bald bast&$! throws pills and money at the employees he does hire to give him a little action in the back room Sounds like history repeating to me... doesn't those employees have a choice and make their desision to have a little action? Who is at fault there? Is there one...really .

The Manager Matt breaks company policy every day. he sexually harasses his female employees as well as the customers daily. he thinks he is the big shit and can do whatever he wants. Someone should have the police come check out his office and stuff. I think they would be surprised with what they found. No wonder his pretty little wife left him in the dust with all the cheating he does. He should be fired for breaking policies. its not right that he can have sex with someone under him for a raise or some drugs.

I can absolutely promise you that MOST of the problem is in fact that yes, THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE DOPED UP AROUND HERE. It's either marijuana, pain pills without a prescription, nerve pills without a prescription, or worse drugs. I know for a fact when Hazard Walmart opened a few years ago, they had over 600 people apply initially. TWELVE passed the drug test. Let that sink in a minute. That is 2% passed the drug test. 2%. Yeah, we have a problem in this area.

one reason wrote: from what i was told by one of the cashiers the under staffing problem is due to people failing their drug tests.the lines aren't as bad now as they used to be but christmas is coming up so that is bound to change.i have also been there a few times and some sections in the grocery dept. were basically empty of everything,in the process of stocking maybe, but why wait until the shelves are bare.and those times weren't during bad weather or forecasts of snow.as far as for the rest of the store the only real problem i have ever had was with the auto dept. and them opening late and being rude and slow.but i usually only have to deal with them once a year. Everybody knows good and well what the problem with under staffing is, and it sure isn't anything to do with drugs, it's working your employees just enough to keep them from being full time and getting benefits. Basically a temporary job or maybe a second job to help ends meet. People won't work a job where the Company will do anything to keep their employees from getting ahead. Personally, I don't understand it, and think with the constant turnaround that it would be better to pay that little extra and allow your employees benefits so when trained they will stay. I figure they move on, right after they are trained, for a job where they are treated with respect and gratitude. Wally World is by far one of the worst Employers in this Country. It's all about cheap China junk and a dollar, F the employees. The people they do have haven't been able to find a decent job yet, and probably because of their education, but work experience pays off in the end, and I hope every single one of them finds a job where they get benefits.

It's Companies like Wal Mart that have ruined this Country. Those giant Corporate salaries have went through the roof while employees struggle to survive. Republican politicians back this sort of greed. They preach how Unions are so bad and destroy Companies, but forget the employees can't make it on such low wages and no benefits. Paul Newman was a true Patriot, whom took pride in taking care of his Employees. Every employee is a partial owner and gets treated with respect. The Companies he founded are a real benefit to Society. Wally World pushes no account Chinese junk , and a plague on Society, and hopefully will go union one of these days. If they fold up and go bankrupt the only people it would hurt is Corporate.
