The price at the theater in town is way too high for alot to pay to even take there kids out!! Other theaters around the country aren't as expensive and they make plenty of money. these guys down town are rapeing us with these prices!

Then don't go. There are other options for seeing movies. There are racks of movies at Wal-Mart for $5 and $3, renting movies, streaming movies, borrowing movies, and even movies on television. You don't have to see the newest release for enertainment. Or better yet, why don't you go one of these cheaper theaters?

you obviously not been to many theaters then, be thankful they even have a cheap showing on the weekend. What they charge for normal showing is about right around the average

The Riverfill was extremely cheap for many years. Now, it is in line with others. The matinees are still very reasonable.
The problem with the Riverfill is that it hasn't kept itself updated. Seats are small and old compared with newer theaters because it's an older theater.
Perhaps most disappointing is it never gets anything in 3D.
If it's a 3D movie, I always go to Logan, where I can buy my tix online, which is handy.
But, most of the time we stick with the good 'ol Riverfill. Its not the fanciest or nicest, but it's clean and decent, and the workers are always nice!
just wondering

The Riverfill 10 walls are cracked and falling toward the back. Its gonna be dangerous to go in there very shortly. Look at the big cracks and walls leaning toward the mountain side. Something is going on there with its foundation. Bad news!

Hmm..could it be that it was built on an old riverbed? I'm surprised anything along that area is still standing.

the national aveage for ticket prices is 7.50, so they are RAPEING US!! If they want to raise the price on their tickets then they need to give us a break on the pop and popcorn! We all know that popcorn is cheap as HELL. I work in the resturant buiz so i know the price of pop is also cheap in comparison when you serve foutian pop. For example if you by a 44oz pop at speedway its only $1.49. Again we are getting RAPED. As far as getting movies other ways? Unfortunatly the TRUE movie experience can only be had at the theater. It just shouldn't hurt the wallet so bad

well, i have been to other theaters...

im sorry but i go to school at eku in richmond. our theater is MUCH nicer, and it charges the same price as pikeville. yes their prices are average...but look at the other theaters compared to pikeville? our theater is overall much nicer, we have reclining seats and the theaters are actually elevated, so that you can see no matter who sits in front of u! at pikeville, if i get behind someone near as tall as me, i cannot see very well at all! our theater also shows multiple showings throughout the day...not just 4 shows, and they actually have early showings for like $3.75! I mean, the riverfill has not updated ANYTHING...not their seats or their screens! their movies have been messing up alot! i honestly, now that i have been to our theater in richmond, do not even like coming to pikeville theater now! they charge just as much as everyone else...for a much lower quality movie! they need some major updates! i mean, they still have a poster up of bad company!

I think the Riverfills prices are about the national average. I wont hardly go to a full price movie but do go to the $4.00 matinees all of the time. I do think the food prices are high but that is where they make most of their money. I usually take a bottle of water or soda with me hidden in my coat or wifes purse. I also usually take my own candy if I want it. We do buy popcorn there. Sneakng your own stuff in saves a little money but I suppose if you are on a date and need to impress the little lady, you better open the old wallet and shell out the bucks. I dont like the seats at the Riverfill. I did hear that someone is looking into building a huge theater complex around the wal mart area in Pikeville but the bad economy has slowed its development down.

The only thing I buy from the stand is a big pop. After all, I came to see a movie, not buy my goddamn dinner.

The quality of the screens, seats, sound, and overall atmosphere is out-dated, old, and frankly stinks. If they want to charge the big prices, they need to do a lot of work to the place. They turn the volume up so loud that you can't think. They do this to mask the quality of sound and picture. The seats are so nasty, I take a towel hidden in my purse to sit on. That place is a rip off. I won't even start about the price of drinks, candy, and popcorn....

the Riverfill will have 3-d sometime this summer. If u dont like the prices on concessions, eat before you go so your not hungry or sneak snacks in. Also go to the matinee or better yet just rent a movie from the red box at wal-mart for a buck and buy snacks. On the warm days instead of sitting on your booty go for a walk or take the kids to the park thats free. I just hate to see people complain and be ungrateful for the few leisure activites we have in our small town.

The riverfill should have 3-D sometime in April. As for the Bad Company banner, it hangs there to help block out some of the sun that shines through the window. They don't turn the sound up loud to hide the quality of the sound, actually the movie companies recommend that the movies run a little louder than they run them. If you have a problem with the movie's being too loud, all you have to do is ask them to turn them down and they will.

I think she is talking about all the jizz stains that's been on the seats since pretty much the better part of the 90's and 00's. I've probably sat on generations of children at that place.

Well there is not alot to do around this area just be glad you have a theatre. When I moved here from new york I about died of boredom I'm just glad there is a little bit of something. Besides that you have to drive about an hour and a half to two hours to do anything else.
