And I am so sorry your pet passed. It is a tough ordeal. I just pray your pet didn't suffer.

And yes I would recommend Joey.

the animal shelter isnt the same as the animal clinic, the animal shelter doesnt do surgeries or perform exams on pets
if you adopt a pet from there, they will make you have it spayed or neutered before you take it home, if it hasnt been already.
my mom has gotten 2 dogs from the shelter and they have alot of good dogs that need homes

This was on a Sunday, my dog was sick so I call Joeys office and they did return my call fairly quick BUT they didn't want to come in and see my dog for another 2 hours. It was an emergency or I would have waited till Monday. But the other man (not Joey)didn't seem think so and my dog died before it was time meet him.

Well I travel all the way to prestonsburg and sometimes Morehead now just so that I will not have to go to Joey Collins. I have taken every dog that I have had throughout my life and for a while I just didn't like the treatment or the prices, but then I had a really sick dog one night and he had seen this same dog earlier that day. Well, I called and called, left messages, even drove down there. He did not respond and my dog ended up dying that night. The next day they did an examination to see what caused my baby boy to die, that cost me a large sum, then he discovered that my little boy had parvo. I had just taken him the previous day because something was wrong, but they just charged me a huge amount and said that he needed a new heart worm pill. Joey even admitted that it was his fault, but he did not care. You could tell it was nothing to him, he didn't even had the guts to apologize for overlooking the obvious! I took my dog to be examined by the vet in prestonsburg that same day after I was outraged by what they said and that vet discovered that it in fact wasn't parvo. My dog had been poisoned and the pburg vet pointed out the signs that Joey should have been able to see easily and they could have saved my baby boy by just giving him this medicine that counteracts the poison he was given! They don't care about anything but the money! I would rather waste gas than to let them see any of my animals for two seconds!!!!!! FU~CK Him and his shitty so-called veterinarian clinic! They should be closed for good especially since they allowed parvo to be spread to nearly 100 pets last year alone because they weren't sanitary!
What is the vets name in P-berg? What is the name of the office?
Been thinking of changing. Have been going there for about 20 years.

they're just really busy, yes they're THAT busy. their phone is ringing constantly. i do think that on weekends they're not going to allow pets to be a huge priority after hours. they're probably thinking that it's just a pet.

The new lady Vet I think her name is Erica is very nice n seems to know her stuff she saved my Westies life about 2 weeks ago, he had to stay over night and the bill was very reasonable, she took the time to talk to me and answer my questions I liked her very much!

I don't like the girls at the front desk. Rude as hell. But Joey Collins has always been great. If you need him in the middle of the night, call him and leave a message and he checks every couple hours and always calls back. I was there with my cat a few years ago and she died on the table. About a week later, he sent me a sympathy card. Everytime I'm there, he's running back and forth trying to save a seizured dog or something. He cares. That's more than you can say about most people.
i have to agree with u, that one, the younger one, with blonde hair is a total bimbette who thinks she has a medical degree, i have to take my animal back there and she had better not get rude with me, cause she already got rude with me on the phone and i am just about ready to tell her where to get off, she is rude and thinks she can run interference with the vets, and decide who gets seen and who doesnt and she refuses to even let u speak to the vet or even take your info and have them call u back

if u had asked me this question a month ago, i probably would have said yes, i recommend them, but with the way i have been treated this past week and my poor little sick animal and they (the front desk losers) wont even let me speak to the vet, they act like i am a nuisance, but they ripped my arm out of the socket taking my money when they seen my pet
i would not recommend them based solely on the office staff and the uncaring attitude of one of the new vets

Joey is good on larger animals but he ain't worth crap for dogs and cats. He let two of my dogs die. There is a vet on town mountain that is really good. His name is fred I think.

There is a new place in Grundy that is fabulous. I can't remember the clinics name. But the the vet's name is Rasnick. Cleanest office I have ever been in and I have been in lots. I absolutely love the staff.

I think they are a wonderful vet! My dog got hit by a car and we called Joey it was about 12:00 a.m. and he was on his way back from out of town and he called us back as soon as he got the message it was 2:00 a.m. and he was willing to come and pick our dog up! The sad part was that he had already died so there was nothing else we could do, but atleast he called us back!

These ladies up front deal with the worst they are, the public, everyone doesn't hear what they put up with, and for Joey Collins the vet, he does an excellent job, he is a human being, and needs to be treated like one, and, if you don't like the service there, go somewhere else, its your choice, Joey and his staff would understand.and if you are showing your boobs, cover them up, if you don't want someone to look at them, That all i got to say about that!!!

No! I would not recommend Dr Joey at all. I used to take my dog there for over 13 years and the way i was treated when we had to have him put down was awful. Now i take my dogs to Country Hills in Pburg...Dr Mark and Melanie Greene are great! The office is always clean and my dogs actually enjoy the vet visit!

I love Dr. Collins but I can't stand the ladies up front. I understand that they deal with the public, but believe me they do not deal with the worst. Trying working at a bank. You encounter some of the rudest people. Even if they do deal with annoying people, IT'S THEIR JOB!! If they don;t like it they should go elsewhere.

Does anyone have any idea what Joey charges for spaying and neutering dogs? Not with a humane society discount, just straight out, what's his prices for the procedure?

For starters not only is Joey the best vet and nicest guy I know he is obviously one of the best business men in pike county. There is a reason you have to be there at 6 o'clock to get in. He also on multiple occasions has came to my house past midnight for something for my horse. As for the people taking there animals to other places he doesnt care I would think. With the amount of money and customers that go through his doors he probably doesn't need the headache of you complaining anyways. It saddens me that people don't know how good of a man he is.
