I'm curious to find out how many of you would support a no smoking in public places ordnance, such as grocery stores, gas stations, department stores, ect....., there are many children and adults with serous lung disease that you can't see, is a few minutes of no smoking worth saving a life of another, some one with asthma can die in 2 minutes of an asthma attack caused by tobacco smoke.

if its a privately owned business they can put up no smoking signs
alot of people will still ignore that
would be nice if people just had more courtesy for others but thats america i guess
we just go along with the status quo

Im a liberal but eff that. Too many freedoms gone as it is. I was at the movies once smoking and a woman asked me to put it out, I said I will if I can put it out in your eye. Her faced turned red and she didn't complain no more.

You don't like my smoke, then go away.

Also, businesses should think twice before making their place a no smoking area. This isn't New York, Kentucky proudly has more smokers than any other state in the nation, just google it.

Don't worry that we are also #1 in cancer deaths.

as a former smoker, all i can say is, i feel alot better and alot healthier since quitting.
its freeing in more ways than one.
financially is probably one of the biggest.
but, it stands to reason, one can quit smoking and still get hit by a bus, so who is to say that you will live longer.
all i know is, i live better.
money i once spent on cigerettes, i can now put in the bank, or rent an extra movie, or have my car detailed, etc.
it is just such a nasty stinky habit.

Good for you! I know for a fact that actually ALLOWING smoking will bring some business! Whenever my wife and I are in Coal Run, we make a point to eat at Reno's whenever we can. It may be the last bastion of freedom to smoke and eat left in this miserable socialist nation.

well had you been sitting next to me with your cancer stick, you and your smoke would have left the building! You can destroy your lungs all you want IN THE PRIVACY OF YOUR HOME. don't expect me or any other non smoker to sit quietly by and allow you to harm us in the process! That applies if you are male or female!

i remember years ago, seeing a story on tv about larry hagman, the actor who played on the tv show dallas.
he always carried around a little hand held fan, like you can buy for maybe 5 bucks at walmart
and if anyone smoked next to him, he would blow the smoke back on them
his mother, mary martin was a broadway actress and she was very anti smoking as well, the two of them appeared in a commercial for american lung association and they both worked toward bringing about awareness to the dangers of smoking...
she died of colon cancer
and he died of leukemia....

The smoking bans first started in New York, now they are everywhere. It's sad. Now New York is banning how much soda you can drink. Only a matter of time before I go to a resturaunt in Pikeville and have to weigh myself, and then get told "sorry we can only serve you water."

And it is exactly what they deserve. Personally, I will sit next to a smoker opposed to a lard arse any day. Fat sob's take up entire aisles and it is almost impossible to get around them in a restaurant. I don't know why but it seems almost every one of them is obnoxious. Maybe it is the laughter and ridicule they have endured over the years. Seems it is always the lard arses who complain the loudest about smoking. Like in some way they are worried about their health, but only when it concerns smoking, or something they do not do. The very sight of one is enough to make a normal person sick at their stomach. Big giant rolls of blubber, crap sagging everywhere, and skin looking like they were beat with a bag of nickles, basically disgusting. Give me a smoke over the fat any day.

You've made some points that I'd like to address.(1) smoking is a personal choice which one makes a conscience decision to do so. My decision on this matter is not to smoke.(2) Over eating to the point of causing obesity is also a conscience decision. On this matter my weight is consistant with my height and falls within the guidelines, I exercise daily and watch what I eat, which is also a conscience decision. Here is where I differ with your comments! I had a family member who had cancer and she was slim and in good health until Rx'd with cancer, during all her treatments she began to gain weight at an alarming rate. due to all the medications her physician had her on. So Please DON'T ASSUME that every person you see is nothing more than a "Lard Arse" as you eloquently posted until you've walked a mile in their shoes! My point is - just because you see a person in a restaurant and they are overweight don't immediately assume they are nothing but a pig. I find you to be obnoxious as well, Is it because you were laughed and ridiculed at over the years for being an idiot?

isnt smoking already banned in almost all public places.i know you can smoke outside but i didnt think you could smoke indoors anywhere around here in pikeville.and even away from here i havent seen anyone smoking inside of any place other than a few restaurants or bars.you cant go into say kohls, sears, target or wally world anywhere and smoke can you.i thought that was banned years ago.as an ex smoker i think it should be that way.i didnt notice how bad it smells or how annoying the smoke is when i did smoke.now i can walk past somebody that smokes and the smell almost makes me sick.or walk into a store that has those ashtray things by the front door, the odor is awful.

This country was created with individual rights, not majority rights. The basis for the constitution is that every person has the right to do what they want as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others. That is a great way to run a country. But, people don't think (or care) that their smoking bothers people. It infringes on the rights of others. But smokers say it is their right to smoke. What about my right as a non smoker to not have to walk through a way of smoke when I enter a building. Are smokers rights more important than non smokers rights? Hey, if you want to smoke in the privacy of your home or car, then you have every right to do so. But when you are in a public forum, why should people who don't like smoke have to put up with it?

Let's look at it in another way. Let's say that someone likes rap music and decides they want to carry a boom box at full volume in a public place blasting the music everywhere. Does that person have the right to blast his music in a public place? Or should should they respect the rights of others who do not like rap music? Most people would agree that the person blasting the rap music should not do so whether or not they like rap music.

I look at smoking the same way. People get angry and upset when they can't smoke in a public place and blame the non smokers for it. But a public place is for everyone, not just for one group of people. Smoking does bother many people and I know many people have health issues with it. And yes, second hand smoke does cause health issues. Smoking does infringe the rights of others.

What I was referring to here is If I had asked you to put it out and you didn't , I simply would have went to Mgmt and had your smoking azz escorted out!
