I work for this bunch and i must say Massey was better than these clowns any day of the week. They come to you and tell you that all our coal for 2012 was sold then a day later were going to shut down and you can either use your extra vaction or not get payed. Then they cut hours all the usual stuff in a bad market. Keep hearing rumor after rumor that Sidney Coal was sold well get to work they shut down mines they layed off then they gave you a job offer if you were lucky but how can you be lucky when some of these places were over two hours for some people. They tried to kill Massey men off who had contracts offered a bonuse but we had to sign over our contracts yet they rewared the men who didnt sign them with a full share in that program well us contract men were told you can have half. Now i am nobody and i must say i think Alpha bite off more than they could handle i dont think Alpha wanted Sidney they wanted all our Met Reserves and exports and load outs. Now they dont want to deal with steam coal mines they just figure we will just screw with them till they either quit or we can find some buyer to take us of there hands. I feel like i have been lied to i dont think they told us the truth and i dont think we will ever know. I just feel like that this company has done us wrong and will continue to do so till they rid all contract workers or are able to piece out whats left of the Sidney Area aka NKy buisness unit. Calling for more lay offs in August i mean really that means any who are left over there good luck it doesnt look to good. To all that thought Alpha was for the better i am glad you got a dose or reality all them cards you wrote all them meetings you went too all the Bs they shoved your way doesnt mean squat when your fellow man your fellow coal miner your brothers next to you dont have a job or may not in the short term. Some say Don was bad for coal he had his major faults but the 6 years i was under him my family ate better lived better and didnt have quite the worries that we have today. So continue to put faith in a company who just let your fellow worker and see where it gets you. I for one will be looking for a quick exit as soon as i can. Natural gas wont stay cheep for ever so let the coal plants change over another 4 years with Obama doesnt matter what you do your going to feel some sort of pain over a over rated man like him. I will be voting straight Republican this time around.

Nobody wants steam coal in this market. I have always said nat. Gas prices will triple in 4 years , but by then we will have lost our production and miners.

Now there is a fine non-biased publication. It's funny that they are trying to take credit for Blankenship's departure...that's halarious.

Funny. You should be thankful you have a job and stop biting the hand that feeds you and your family. If you despise it so bad why don't you quit? Or better yet sack up and put your real name on here so we can see how much shit you talk about your employer then.

Alpha lost $29 milliom last month, and how long do you think they can hold out without whacking to the bone? I believe the rumors of more lay-offs in August are true, because they sure bought a loser in Massey.
