I don't think that little church problem will affect how people think about Kentucky.
The problem lies with the church officials.
We have many different religons where I am and no one gets turned away from any of them.
I agree Mav. Don't think I would want to be where I wasn't accepted though.
True it was wrong and I guess the couple was just out to show the world how wrong the church was.
Hmmmmm. What you think has done happened here? Clueless done went and burnt some crosses or sopmething?

We can all give God thanks that he touched their hearts and changed their ways. Lets go on and cause there is nothing to say about it anymore. They could have told everyone to mind their own business but they didnt. Give them credit where credit is do. I pray that God touches the lives of that church in a new way.

The fundie god does not exist. Fundies are racists. They are also cowards. They could have told people to mind their own business, but they didn't have the backbone. You think their attitude has changed? LOL. Yeah, right.

I don't know what you mean by "fundie God"; but God does exist for many of us. I believe in God, I am not a racist and I have been offended by the racist remarks that have been made on this thread. I want to believe that the members of the church have seen the error in what they believed to be the truth and now believe and know that God does not racially discriminate. Some may think that I am naive to believe that there has been a change of heart; but to think otherwise is not conducive to any kind of healing or forgiveness.

I wouldn't attack your belief that God does not exist. Could you offer the same respect to those of us who do believe in God. Let's at least try to be kind to one another.

There are many, many gods people believe in and have believed in. I'm not going to guess at a number. By "fundie God", I mean the god described by fundamentalist Christians.

Yeah, I think you are extremely naive to believe their change in policy reflects any change of heart.

You seem like a decent person, and I respect you, but the teachings of fundamentalist Christianity are false. They are used to "justify" hating all sorts of people, even left handed people a mere generation ago. When the testable claims made for this god are put to the test, we find he does not exist. Sorry, that's just the truth.

.
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will to men.

@truthfull: Of course these people have the right to run their church the way they see fit. That is guaranteed by the freedoms of association and religion. No one questions that. But that does not mean they are beyond criticism for the way they run their church. People have the right to do all kinds of despicable things. And it is our right to criticize them over it. That is guaranteed by the freedom of speech.
When people who hold themselves out as Christians turn a couple away from their church because the couple is interracial, I have the right to call them on it. And when the people who have done that claim they are not racist, I have the right to call them on that, too. And I do call them on that; they have acted in a racist manner, and they have conducted themselves in an unChristian way.
Perhaps all the criticism they are getting for this--nationwide in scope now--will show them the error of their ways and lead them to change their minds. Certainly they are far less likely to change their minds if all of us simply let this go by without criticism. Let us hope--and indeed pray--that they do change their minds.
Finally, correcting people who have strayed from the path is not inconsistent with loving them. Indeed, correcting them is an act of love.
Rascism is ugly - whatever clothes and color it wears.
