Christianity has had 2000 years to make the world a better place.
Epic fail.
It's time to try something else.
The christian cult had total power in the dark ages, we all know how that went

YOU are proof that the bible is not real. You ignore most of the bible, picking only the parts that justify yourselves. You made up something that is the opposite of what your bible says to justify ignoring the bible that you claim is the word of god.
All four of your gospels state that not one dot of the old laws would pass away until heaven and earth have passed away (what? you think you are standing on Pluto?) but your cult claims that you are not under the old law.
You say that you are "forgiven"? So how is it worship if you ignore your gods words and commands?
“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”(Matthew 5:18-19 RSV) Clearly the Old Testament is to be abided by until the end of human existence itself. None other then Jesus said so.
2) All of the vicious Old Testament laws will be binding forever. "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)
3) Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)
3b) "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16 NAB)
3c) "Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God." (2 Peter 20-21 NAB)

I was talking to a couple of mormons and a baptist abouthow people have a right to live their own lives. I was told that men with long hair are disrespectful. To who?, did you ever consider that your short hair is disrespectful? Then I told them that their bible says it is a sin for a man to cut his hair. They got pissed and the conversation was over. You can not have a real conversation with these idiots!

It was a MAIN book used in education over the centuries...

Imagine "students" having to translate and write it, from one language to another these days!

If all the religious bible bashing bastards could be kept away from our schools and our children, within a generation we could break the stranglehold religion has on our society, and this could only be a good thing for human society.

Reading what any unbalanced extremist types (no matter the faith, creed or color) do, can be like reading horror stories.

And up until the 1900's that was fine because there where no public schools. All schools where paid for by the parents to keep the poor uneducated, so that sweatshops would have large numbers of young children to lock in their factories for 12 hours a day at slave wages.
Since the christian cult has a small percent of the population your cult will not be forced on children at my expense.
If all children where told about religion when they where adults there would never be another christian again

True, proof of this is the 500 years that the church was in power. We call that the dark ages because people where oppressed and there was no greatness or progress

A high school class in Greek so that kids can translate old scrolls? That would be awesome, actually. It would be impossible, but a great exercise.

Nothing wrong with reading the Bible. Reading in general is very good for the ole noggin. As long as you are liberal in your religious views then there is no problem. Once you go down the path of Fundamentalism you are off the rails.

I think a comparative religion course taught be a qualified instructor would be an incredibly good asset to any kid's education. And I guarantee the Fundie parents would lose their sh*t over it because when you start comparing religions you necessarily criticize your own.
