You are exactly wrong.

NAFTA negotiations began in 1986, during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. U.S. President George H. W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexican President Carlos Salinas, signed the agreement on Dec. 17, 1992.

Actually Historian is right. Daddy Bush and the other nations' leaders signed the bill in Dec. 1992, a month before Clinton took office. After the signing, the bill had to go to the respective legislatures for ratification. That is when Clinton came into the process. He added clauses to the bill to protect American workers and to require the other countries to comply with environmental regulations like those here in the US. Supporters in the Senate were 32 Republicans, 27 Dems and in the House 132 Reps and 102 Dems. It was ratified in 1993.

Since NAFTA is the North American Free Trade Agreement and N. Amer consists of only 3 countries, the US, Canada and Mexico, it has little to do with the situation that exists in this country today. Free trade has proven to be not free in that it is easily manipulated by those super conglomerates that seek to control world markets and governments. That is what I was talking about in my post earlier. NAFTA is immaterial.

I have noticed that the new Tea Party type "conservatives" tend to distort history a great deal.

What all the discussion pertaining to NAFTA proves is the Democrat and Republican parties are two wings of the same party.
NAFTA is immaterial. NAFTA is very material, being one of the ten economic zones the world is divided into by the IMF.
