Considering driving down from NE Ohio to donate goods, money, and assistance. Interested in local opinions and suggestions. Many thanks.

Well, I'm encouraged. Seeing as how these forums often fall into gossip and namecalling, and the one comment here is positive, I think that's a good indication.

Hope to visit in early August. Peace, out.

Feelin It, expect hope to shine on you today and I bet it will.

My daughter who has no insurance & has been unemployed & has no income at all went to mud creek dental recently. She wanted to check to see how much a replacement would be for one tooth she had to have pulled. She told them that, but they refused to listen, so they did x-rays, etc., set her up for more appointments, which she can't go because she goes to MCHC where it is cheaper. She paid 25 that day, then received a bill for almost 400, this is crazy. I thought they were trying to help the poor who have no income.

I am sory for your friend. I know many, many people who come from Pike county and Floyd County to go to the dentists at Mud creek. The only complaint I ever heard is that they don't pass out pain pill scripts; and we know why that is.. I also think they use a sliding scale on cost according to how much you can afford. She needs to have them re-check on that bill. Something sounds wrong.

No matter how much it costs, it is 1/2 what it would be at other dentists. It is nice to have them here, we are luck to get anyone to even drive to Mud Creek, much less work there as a professional..

She received that bill because the clinic requires proof of income in some form of check stub, benefit statement, etc. If a patient doesn't have physical proof that day they take their word for it and you have 30 days to bring it in/mail it/fax it in. Sounds like she didn't have it that day and failed to submit it, therefore she received a large bill because that was the full fee.

I'm actually one of the dentists there. I read these forums from time to time to see what people are saying about the clinic, good and bad lol. I appreciate your kind words, we try to do what we can to help people who need it. I could easily open my own private office around here, but I feel that working at the dental clinic is a very rewarding job. It is nice to work for a company that helps people receive care at an extremely discounted price. There aren't many clinics like this around here that can help someone without dental insurance and low income.

To the lady who's daughter had a billing issue, she probably failed to submit her proof of income after the 30 day deadline, resulting in her getting that large bill for 100% of the fee. I would discuss that with our billing department.

I took my child there, and if you are the dentist that he saw...I thought you were very nice and concerned about what he was going through. I found you to be courteous and caring. Thanks alot!

Fred, this is wonderful. I am sure there are many places who could use the help. I want to tell you about Lifeline. This is a group dedicated to the support and recovery of addicts. I know any donations you make here would be put to good use. Please consider this.
