I love Verizon. Been with them about four years now. But because app wireless claims the air, they can't put a tower in here yet, so this is an extended area without a local number.
Eventually tho...hopefully.

AT&T, the service not only blows in the virgie/poor bottom area, but many friends and relatives have told me they cant get service in their areas either. And the service in the Pikeville store is awful.
I was spoken to very very rudely by the store manager, Todd or Scott or Chris or whatever his name was.
He offered zero solution to my issue and in fact, didnt even try.
He blew me off as if I were a nuisance to his day, which I probably interrupted him from playing candy crush or something.
AT&T, my advice, dont bother.
I got better service with straight talk and will never ever use AT&T again and not just mobile, but home as well.
I dropped them and went with a different home phone service.

Explain please, does that mean if you use Verizon, you will have a long distance number?
And do they charge long distance rates to make calls?
wow

Unfortunately yes about the number. I have an Ashland number. But they don't charge you a roaming fee or anything. Only bad thing is that it's long distance for whoever calls you.
I'm on a 1400 minute shared plan, and no extra charges are added. The best thing about Verizon is, when you get the 1400 minute plan, you can pick 10 numbers, landline as well, that are free and won't use your minutes. It's free mobile to mobile also.
Bad thing is, it's not roll over. With the 10, plus mobile to mobile, we barely touch our minutes. But if we didn't have that plan, we'd be using that plus some. Oh, mobile to mobile is only with other Verizon phones.
With two iPhones and texting with our plan, it's about $130 a month.

AT&T towers???????? Do these actually exist???????
I was told it is also the type of phone you use has as much to do with it as the carrier.
I dont know much about it, but I know this, AT&T SUCKS!!!
I had them for my home phone, and by the time I dropped them, they had jacked my monthly bill up to around 75 a month, and I didnt even have long distance.
I dumped them and went with Capital Communications and now I pay a flat 33 per month every single month.
Vonage is even cheaper than that.
As for mobile service, They screwed me to the wall.
Not only wouldnt they take the phone back, after ONE day, without charging me for it, but both the clerk and the manager where dicks to me.
No, I know that in this day and age we have the technology available that we should be able to get better mobile service and be treated better.
I dropped AT&T, and right now I am considering Verizon, but I am waiting and doing my homework before I rush out and buy a phone and a plan I cant use.

AT&T screwed me hard with home service too. My current bill was like $71, and due on the 5th. I called them and told them that some things came up that month and I couldn't pay until the 26th. Well, on the 18th, they cut me off!! I called from my cell to complain, and they wouldn't turn it back on, so I switched to a bundle package with IMC.
THEN, a month later, I received a bill from them for $140. WTH!!! They said that just because I was disconnected from them that my bill was still continuing to add up even tho I wasn't using their service. I had to OFFICIALLY say that I discontinued my service. How much plainer could it be when I told them on the 18th that they just lost a customer??
It went to collections, and every time one of those foreign bas tards call, I give them an ear full and hang up. That bill shouldn't have been no more than $80.

One other thing about ATT, when I purchased the phone, no contract, the clerk told me it only comes with a home charger, I would need to buy a car charger seperately.$30.00, plus tax of course.
I told her I was a little short at the moment and would just have to make due with the house charger for now.
As soon as I got into my car, I tried the phone with my $5.00 car charger I bought at the dollar store and it worked perfectly.
See, that is just one more example of why people need to research these things first.
I regret every second of every minute of the hour I spent driving to the store and buying that phone.
But I didnt have to pay their stupid idiotic nonsensical 35 dollar restock fee.
I sold the phone for 10 dollars less than what I paid for it and ATT can eat me!!!

If you have reliable Internet with uncapped data, go with magic jack plus. Every bit as good as vonage, but 20 dollars a year. AT&T is good if you are right in pikeville for cell service, but if I wanted them I would go with straight talk, 44 a month for unlimited everything and you can get an iPhone and put the cheapo prepaid service on it so you still have a top of the line phone. I had straight talk and loved it until I started working in knott county. There was no service with it over there. Now I have Appalachian.

i might consider straight talk, but no iphone for me, i only want android phones, i do not care for the constant updates and changes to the iphones.
i would rather pay up to 150 for an android phone and put it on straight talk than an iphone.
