I really hate to hear that. I thought it was a pretty drive and nice place to live. Lots of nice people.......man that's terrible...

Yeah one of the motels that went out of business in Pikeville was set up to help the ones that lost their home and places all throughout Johns Creek and Raccoon still haven't been built back and probably never will. Thanks for your concern its really starting to look like the place you remember but is still a work in progress.

Can you still drive up through there? I'm thinking about driving back down for a few days to take a trip back in time...so to speak. I know some of the places I remember will probably be gone because they were along the low bottoms beside the creek. How quick a lifetime can be washed away. But I'm glad to hear that people are trying to put the pieces together again. Thanks for the information..

What was sad was the part of people trying to sue coal companies for what mother nature did. They couldn't comprehend that so much rain fall in just a couple hours could cause a flood, Or they were simply trying to get someone to pay for their losses. It didn't make any difference that they weren't responsible.

Oh my GOD!!! You mean we have one of the first intelligent conversations on Topix and no bashing... I am sure many thank you for your concerns and it is good to see there are still good caring people out there. Thx for being interested and concerned.
