This is a disgrace! I WILL NOT be shopping there because of this!! Everyone needs to spend time with their family/loved ones during Thanksgiving. I wonder if Pikeville K-Mart is going to make their employees do this as well? Wal-Mart has better deals anyway!

Here is the article, if anyone wants to read it. I found it on http://now.msn.com/kmart-open-41-hours-straig...

Kmart's T-Day hours (open 41 hours straight) spark outrage
10 hrs ago
When Kmart decided to open at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day and stay open through Friday,(that's 41 hours straight) they probably didn't expect this much anger. People have threatened to boycott to store for not allowing employees to go home and spend the holiday with their families. In the past, Kmart still opened 6 a.m., but let employees go home at 4 p.m. to have dinner. When they announced they weren't doing that this year, people filled Kmart's Facebook page with messages calling the company "greedy," "heartless," and "morally bankrupt." Kmart says they'll staff each store with volunteers and seasonal employees where possible, and that the decision came after customers indicated they wanted more flexible holiday shopping hours.

Most stores are making employees work 12 hour shifts for black Friday. Why not be open Christmas day, that way everyone can return the crap that they got. Gotta get pill $.most people care about stuffing their face. Are we really thankful for anything?

just the typical super rich makin the less fortunate be slaves like always. the irony is that the ones makin them work on thanksgiving will be with their family and acting all holier than thou so they can get more "conservative" bail out money all the while talkin about how the poor need to get off food stamps and welfare becuz they just want something for free. and this group of ppl are the conservative christians of our beautiful country. hypocrisy at its best.

Try having a job being on call 24/7 and not knowing what your going to get into when you get to work I'm sure the employees will receive holiday pay if not then I would be outraged

If the people would quit patronizing the stores on Thanksgiving, then they would quit opening the stores on Thanksgiving.

The employees WILL NOT be asked nor required to work 41 hour and, in fact, may have 6 to 8 hour shifts and get differential pay for working a holiday. With as many different places that families have to be during a holiday, especially mine, we all work it out to be together no matter what time it will be. The "traditional" dinner at two is a thing of the past. It may even surprise you that more than 75% of the employees scheduled to work these shifts VOLUNTEERED. I am not saying I agree with the greed and the commercializing of what we celebrate as Christ's birthday (after all shouldn't He be the one getting gifts?) but I'm just saying times are changing long with the world and that isn't a good thing.

It is for the employees own health that this is being done. Most of them are so over weight that they don't need all that extra food consumption.Kmart decided to keep them as far away from big meals as possible in order to help the most of them lose a few extra pounds.

I worked there last year and don't recall any holiday pay. They are too cheap for that stuff. No raises ever and I just hope it's different this year for the new employees being hired.
