I just wanted to give a update on whats going on with the petition. As many of you who get the Appalachian News Express know we were on the front page of it Friday morning and continued on page 5a.
Tomorrow morning we will be aired on WIFX Foxy 94.3 during the morning show. We are making progress if you have been to our group on facebook you will see Leslie Combs and Greg Leichty are two of our biggest supporters also Ed Marksberry is very active in our cause. We have 254 electronic signatures on http://www.eastky.tk/ and around that many on paper copies around Eastern Kentucky. Thank each and every one of you for your continued support

The best advice I can give you is that if you want to organize, you need to have one clear message.....something that needs to be changed and your suggestion of changing it. The mistake that many of these home grown groups are making is that nobody knows what exactly they want. For example, the truckers that were mad as hell, or sick of the BS..........sure, but our legislators can't write a law to make us "not mad as hell no more". You have to have a problem, one clear fixable problem, and the remedy you are proposing. That is what the activists and lobbyists do, and they get things done.

you say vote them out, well, i agree, but, the problem with that is, the next crop coming in will be just as dirty and rotten and crooked as the next.

Non Coal Jobs, that includes Tourism "ATV Trail, H&M Festival and historic site development, tours, Fishtrap a State Park, hiking and anything tourism that might work. Plus trying to attract non coal jobs, lowering business tax on companies that will move here and try to get them a break on energy as we did the cookie factory. Now that's not that complicated and is just one theme!

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, all kinds of jobs and creating the opportunity for job creation of all type of NON COAL JOBS!

That is a generalized statement that may or may not be true. The politicians we have in office now are useless. The new ones may or may not be incompetent but one thing we know for sure the ones we have in there now are married to the coal and won't be into going after non coal jobs. We know what we got and should be willing to let someone new try to work the problem if they are into non coal job development.

We need industry , a supply for a real demand, we deserve better jobs than tourist attractions can provide. Vote them out until they accomplish this and nothing less. Toyota would rather have our versatile coal miners than anyone , I'm sure other manufacturers would to. However if our local politicians can't prosper from it they will reject it, again vote them out.

Did you all hear the latest on WYMT News? On Dec. 9 there is going to be a summit about the SOAR (Shaping Our Appalachian Region) program that Gov. Beshear and US Rep. Hal Rogers have come up with at the Expo Center in Pikeville. Will be interesting to hear what this is all about!
You can check the story out on http://wymt.com

Look closely at what I'm saying , if you vote them out at some point they will begin to work for you, they are not the least job scared so they work for themselves . This is where our power is to change things . If we do this all these other thing will happen . This is what we can do to start with . It make no sense to leave someone in office that is crooked or no disrespect but to old , so all we need is to get the pubic officials working for us and by voting they will come around to see our way is best. That is if they get to keep their job , we can fire them every couple of years.

We need industry and tourist attractions, every dollar spent in Pike County turns over about 6 times. The emphasis should be on both plus helping the service sector.

We need any kind of non coal job we can get, Industry, manufacturing, tourism plus energy jobs. We need to start developing every solar, hydro and alternative energy job we can because AEP keeps raising the rates to where we can't afford power and new business will not come in here with the present tax and power rates.

After all the corruption we have seen in the last 40 years, namely in the age of broadcast news, I am very surprised that people still believe their vote counts!! Unless you are a lobbyist, with money to contribute to their campaign, they could care less what you want or need.
They will make you any and every promise they think you want to hear as long as they are running, all the while, doing exactly what their party and their contributors expect and tell them to do.
Stop putting your life and your future in the hands of politicians, if you want businesses to locate here, write to them, give them an idea of the workforce and the region and what we have here to offer.
Get behind groups like The Future of Eastern Ky, and help with letter writing and go to these political rallies and let them know we are not ignorant, we know what they stand for and it isnt the PEOPLE.

Yea, that I know. I just find it sad that that money isn't being used to buy "local" products, and pay "local" people. In my opinion, that would truly help to boost the "local" economy rather than trucking in products and bringing in labor from Louisville and Lexington!!
