In what county? It's ridiculous for Police to waste time stopping and ticketing someone for 5 mph. over the posted speed limit. They must be really desperate to fill some type of expected ticket quota by the end of this month I guess?

i guess busting a family in a suv going 5 mph over the speed limit is a lot safer than going after drug dealers. is that considered job security?

Most cops wouldn't even waste their time giving someone a ticket for only five over. You could easily fight it in court, and probably win. Not to mention, all the paper work for a ticket. If a ticket was issued, there was something else that caught his eyes to pull you over. For instance, my husband decided to pass a cop on the four lane once who had traffic backed up behind him because he was only going 60. Just as soon as he passed him, he got behind him and blue lighted him. That was only five miles over...the cop was being a douce...but didn't give him a ticket. To get a ticket for only five over, the driver probably got hateful with him and p!ssed him off.

I read a thread on here elsewhere from The Legend and he was talking about how his screen name was inspired by a KY. State Police Trooper. Anyway, here's my KY. State Trooper story and it's more on the topic...

I was coming through the Weddington Plaza area (aka Coal Run) once on US 23 headed toward Pikeville and came up on those series of red lights one after another. I stopped at the first one and noticed a State Trooper beside me and thought nothing else of it and when the light changed began my way down thru there. The Trooper and I were car beside car or neck and neck whatever, side by side and of course it is a 45 mph. zone so I kept within the speed limit. We then got to the next light and stopped still next to one another and when that light changed we began down trough there again and at one point I pulled out about 1/2 a car length ahead of him and he immediately dropped back behind me and hit the blues and pulled me over. Some little short asshole cop named Kidd came up to the window and began screaming crazy sh!t to this effect: "This is a 45 mph zone, buddy blah blah and if we're side by side doing 45 mph and you pull out ahead of me then YOU ARE EXCEEDING THE SPEED LIMIT!!!!" all ranting and raving like a madman yet once he settled down he did NOT ticket me. I firmly believe he would have been laughed out of any courtroom if he HAD ticketed me because I could not have been 2 or 3 mph over the limit at the worst of it, LMAO!

I bet he had seen that mugshot and remembered you. Drug possession is most likely what was on his mind when he pulled you over. That pic says it all Druggie.

I have a few friends who are troopers, and they have all told me that until next weekend, the federal government is paying them extra to write any and all tickets... That means if you are 5 mph over, they will ticket right now.. It's called "speed over". That should answer your question, so we'll all have to slow it down for a week or so..

SPEED-LIMIT. Shall I break it down for you???

Speed: noun: Physics The rate or a measure of the rate of motion, especially:
Distance traveled divided by the time of travel.
The limit of this quotient as the time of travel becomes vanishingly small; the first derivative of distance with respect to time.
The magnitude of a velocity.

Limit: noun: The point, edge, or line beyond which something cannot or may not proceed.
limits The boundary surrounding a specific area; bounds: within the city limits.
A confining or restricting object, agent, or influence.

Okay class, let us put them together.
Speed limit: Road speed limits are used in most countries to regulate the speed of road vehicles. Speed limits may define maximum (which may be variable), minimum or no speed limit.

They are usually the safest speed to travel in that particular area. Yes, 5 mph makes a huge difference. The difference being a hospital visit/stay or the cops scraping your guts off of the pavement.

Seriously?? You are only traveling 0.08 of a mile faster per minute. I would hardly consider that as the huge difference you are referring to. I travel 60 all the time, and sometimes faster. Why?? Because newer cars don't have every ten miles listed, but every 20. Not that I can't judge where 55 is on my gage, but because my eyes are on the road, where they should be, than looking at my dash. An accident can happen in a split second....accidents are from distractions, not speed.

Road Rage does make a point but I believe she is a little naive if she thinks that speed does not contribute to accidents and that they happen because of distractions alone. As matter of fact, accidents happen for many reason OTHER than just either of those as well. You can be the most observant, vigilant, mindful driver
on the road and STILL be victim to an accident at any time.

I just passed a trooper on 23 before you get to Coal Run and I was doing at least 64 and he never even bothered me.
