people with health insurance, just dont get it, they dont realize how much they charge for tests, lab work, etc.
and, worse, if you dont have insurance, alot of times the doctors will not perform these tests, even if they know you need them, because they dont want to get in trouble for ordering tests that wont be paid for and they dont want to stick their patients with a bill.
going to the dentist, getting your eyes checked, some other things like this, are luxuries, and sometimes even people with insurance dont have coverage for these things.
mud creek clinic in floyd county goes by your income and mt comprehensive care clinic in whitesburg ky does as well, and they arent like mt comp in pike co, they arent just a mental health clinic.

These people are living in 1 of the most poverty stricken areas in the country. They still don t realize there are some very poor people due to circumstances and not choice.Life is a very tough climb and we all don t get the same opportunities?Thats why it is important to help and educate. Not make fun of people and humiliate.Despite what Obama and the rest of these clowns say?The programs they claim to have put in place for Americans have some very big rolls of red tape.I got news for you people who believe in our current administration. If you are not a minority of some type and from another country? You do not get anything but paper work and the run around!

Going to the emergency room does not mean that you will not receive bills for your medical care. Some just use that to try to avoid paying. If someone wants to pay their bills and maintain good credit they might do better to go to places like Shelby Valley Clinic where payment is based on your income. An office visit runs about $25 and prescriptions $2.

Oh, St.Joseph at Martin also does income based care.

i agree, i know plenty of people who work daily, work hard jobs, waitressing and working in grocery stores, warehouses where they have to lift and carry heavy items and use their back and legs and really work hard and they have zero health insurance, if they are injured they can get some comp if they can fight the company they work for to prove and win their case.
but for colds, ear infections, tooth aches, everyday problems we all take our insurance for granted over, they have to live with the pain or scrimp and save or borrow money or just go to the er and take their chances on getting any help at all.

this works in theory, here is one of those, someone i know, stories.
this person had a serious health condition come upon suddendly
went to place number one, better known as big black tower of terror.
was barely seen, told to take ibuprofen, get some rest, see ya later.
ONE VISIT
days past, the condition worsened, onto place number two.
was seen, treated, very very well, by professionals, medicine given, several visits later, at least 5 visits and treatments
the condition was better
ok, the person missed 10 days of work
no insurance
was sent to the social worker at place number two, filed out app for help
never one bill ever came in the mail
no phone calls
nothing
all of it was paid, i think am pretty sure by coal severance money.
place number one, also filed out app for help
no help
despite the same income etc
ok, big black tower of terror nearly cost this person every thing they have
bills upon top of bills for ONE LOUSY GOOD FOR NOTHING NEARLY COST THEM THEIR LIFE VISIT.
and yet it cost more than place number two and still getting bills over that one visit. now tell me why this person was eligible for help at 2, but not 1.??????
never ever go to the big black tower of terror
it is more terrifying than it looks

If you go to the pikeville medical clinic in Walmart, you receive a 50% discount when you pay your bill in full. A standard visit was around$60.00. The 50% discount goes for anyone paying in full.

yea thats good, most people go there for a sore throat or maybe something mildly more important, you know, but if you are having chest pains or if you have something that requires tests or xrays, will they send you if you dont have any insurance???
and if they do, will you have people calling you all day and night for you to pay??
its always the other guy isnt it?
seems, someones says that freeloader wont pay his bills, but usually they have to prioritize, ya know, food, electric, gas for the car.

Its a sad state of a fares when you start adding up the costs of medical treatment and realize that if you just die, that a funeral will be cheaper then the care is. Thats how screwed up our medical system is

Even if someone working full time in a minimum wage job has insurance, the cannot afford the deductibles and co-payments. A few years ago a family member had to have an appendicitis operation. No complications, just 1 day and night in the hospital. At the time I had employer provided health insurance that was almost identical to the minimum coverage mandated by Obamacare, with the same deductible and co-payments. My part of the bill, over and above what the insurance paid, came to over $6,000. For someone making minimum wage, that is more than a third of their yearly gross income.

To make it worse, some hospitals and doctors require that insured patients pay the deductible and estimated co-payment up front for non-emergency care, tests, etc. Poor people with insurance can't afford to pay it, so they delay getting early treatment for serious illnesses and preventive care.
