NO, I'm not joking. The man has 2 MORE YEARS left on his contract. He resigned on his own terms. Why WOULD he want to put up with ignorance on a daily basis when he can go home and enjoy his retirement??? Just PLEASE explain to us how test scores fall solely upon the shoulders of the Supt? So, a new Supt. will be elected...then, you will have the same principals, teachers, and students. It's impossible for ONE MAN to have that kind of an effect on test scores. Nonetheless, whomever the new Supt. is, it won't be long until a different set of people start weighing in on him as well.

Big Cat is right. It`s always been like this in the Pike Co. BOE. They didn`t like Dotson, then Reo Johns, then Welch, now Wagner. It had a lot to do with the test scores, but also some powerful people had personal agendas against Wagner.

I know for a fact, some big money was spent to get Maynard and CB elected by the some of the same people that help elect Earl Thacker a few years back. I personally don`t know Justin Maynard, but i do know CB Biliter. I have known CB for a long time, and i like him, but i`m afraid he won`t take his job serious as he should.

Dr. Johnson is the only one on the board with any sense. Think about what a bunch of idiots the other three are: Biliter, Ratliff, and Maynard. Boy, we should all be proud of our board. So far they have changed the meeting time of the Board Meetings and have the taxpayers paying for a "forensic" audit. Is it really called a "forensic" audit? It is like a three-ringed circus over there. We are the laughing-stock of East Kentucky.
There were 2 audits done this past year, with excellent reports. Then Mr. Wagner requested one from the Dept. of Education (I mean he ordered an audit on himself) what more do they want??? After listening to the principals dialogue and acting as if they wanted to help get more teachers, one of the new idiots immediately made a motion for yet another audit and this one will cost anywhere from 70,000 to 100,000 DOllars, so do they want to add teachers or throw big money down the drain?????

How much is the new insurance rates going to cost the district?first it's going to take 90 percent of the classified employees, and a big percentage of BUSES of the road, and certified teachers will have to be re-align ,tough times ahead, no bailing out by the Federal nor the State this round, may I also add the pension are at high risk as well,we as educators understand the current economy at all levels and we as we'll must sacrifice and work tommorow as if it was our first and last.

I'm not so sure that anyone had anything against Mr. W.. From what I'm hearing, it is more about people being self-serving and helping their own. And if this proves to be true...this post will make perfect sense. We'll find out in August. Either way, good luck replacing the professionalism and experience that Mr. W. has. The parents and kids of Pike Co. were fortunate to have him.

I wonder why that is?
We know why they didn't focus on that lawyer's quid pro quo with that judge (they made a lot of money from his ads).
But why do they protect the school system?
The media is suppose to speak truth to power. Too bad the New Express uses the Fox News model of faux journalism.
What lawyer and judge are you talking about? Sorry, i must be behind

Truth is Wagner is gone come August if only we can clean the rest of the bunch out to go out the front door with him. Then and only then will it help our school systems . Wait Wagner might come back as a 100 day employee.

If you want true change send all RETIRED 100 DAY EMPLOYEES that have been there for 1.2 million years HOME. Get rid of the same ol' faces that go out to the schools and put on a big act like they are God's gift to education when they don't know JACK SHlT. Do not hire some political hack for Supt. CERTAIN LAST NAMES should also be off limits because they will be the same old shlt.

I am sure this is already a done deal. But it can be done right. Take applications and look at the outsiders who have good credentials and a good education and administrative background. But I don't see that happening. As for the 100 day contracts....that is in almost every school district and is needed in most.

Anyone can be replaced, just ask Nixon! When you get so political you engage in a vendetta against a board member you have to consider the outside chance you might just lose. Retire, take a very lucrative retirement and the two year buyout and walk away without whinning.

The problem with politics is an education system other than it destroying the system is that sometimes you end up on the wrong side of a political fight. We need a new type of governance in the Pike County School System. We need a new Director/Super from outside Pike County and they need to be a PHd. Education Supervision.

How many times have we seen this dog and pony show and how much money have we wasted on these political Hacks! The test scores should be evidence enough this political circus don't work anymore, never did.

God himself could not please the good citizens of Puke County. There is always and I mean always going to be one group that would want God out and the Devil in. You ppl can get on here wine and cry all you want and nothing will ever change. I could care less who the board members are but I do think the ppl of Johns Creek and Phelps will regret there new member. I don't live in either place. Its all about the has an has nots. You just got to figure out witch group you happen to be in at the moment.

PS; If you re a has not Not to worry, It changes about every 6 to 8 years.

In many counties down South, the SUPERINTENDENT is ELECTED by the "PEOPLE" and voted "OUT" by the people if he or she doesn't do their job effectively. How awesome would that be? Could you imagine the political names in Pike County that would be shaking in their shlt kickers. The Thompsons, Birchfields, Johns, etc... We wouldn't have to worry about 4 idiots minus Dr. Johnson making that decision. AND I agree with Man N Town, C.B. Biliter and Maymard have political agendas and one of them "Cough CB COUGH" has promised everyone in his district a job. You'll see.
