Why do you need an assault riffle to protect yourself? Do you have that many enemies coming after you? Granted a shotgun may not be the best alternative but a .45 handgun should be enough.......assault weapons are overkill.

Wht's so funny about all this is that it's illegal in Shotgun Joe's home state of Delaware to shoot a gun outside near your home. And he told the woman to fire off both barrels at the same time when just one would probably knock her down. Then, when I went to the store to buy ammo, the only thing left was shotgun shells. They will no doubt all be gone by tomorrow. They all - Piers Morgan, Obummer and Uncle Joe, probably have bought stock in Colt, Remmington and ammo manufactors.

Just as you lack any knowledge of my gun collection or my enjoyment of hunting. I didn't disagree with using a shotgun for home protection. I was alluding to how Laughin' Joe was trying to make his point. According to him, when faced with an intruder...just run out on the back porch with your double barrel and fire 2 shots. He just rambled and you can plainly tell he doesn't know what he's talking about...as usual.

Ok, in that conext I will agree, and you never fire to scare. Waste of ammo and non effective, if you have to take the gun out you don't waste ammo firng in the air as hard and expensive it is to get.

In some states you can get arrested for firing a gun off near someone even on your own property, its called wanton or reckless endangerment. When you fire up in the air its got to come down somewhere on somebody, their car or roof. So Uncle Joe is, in a sense, advising people to be reckless and break the law. Remember he didn't state how much of a threat someone had to feel before he told the lady to go out on the porch and shot with both barrels. Which like an above poster said was a waste of ammo.

Ever notice that when a controversial social issue inflames, they send out Ol' Joe to say something stupid and then test the public reaction from there.
