Is that why there was a sign up saying..."Walmart coming here soon" where country mart is now?
Nice try
that's right. the "developer" was scouting out locations for walmart, and would get a percentage of the lot sale if the deal went through. Wal-mart turned down the site.

You raise good points, P.O., but my issue is that I don't think it's built upon honesty but more of a theory of hearsay. No mayor in his right mind would turn away a productive facility. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose. Walmart will not save a community. In some ways the large retailer has hurt rural areas. It's a silly argument that always comes up - "if only Piggott had a Walmart" or "Piggott wouldn't allow a Walmart." That does not make or break a community. Look at Corning. They provide a few entry level jobs that causes people to complain about not making enough money.
Is Piggott City poorly managed? Yes, but it's from years of mismanagement on things like energy. They've done a good job on tourism and keeping the downtown alive, but have made some bad decisions in other areas. As far as production operations, the city has not kept them out or turned them down. We have to be honest about the entire situation, not just mad or having an ax to grind. And like the others suggested, if you feel so passionately about it, and are willing to voice your complaints in a negative manner anonymously, why not run for public office? No one is overqualified to be a public servant. Begin at City Council and work towards mayor. You can make a positive difference.

Most of the time when someone is running down a council member, mayor, or just the city in general, its usually turns out to be a pissed off reject who isnt smart enough to keep their electric bill paid, or is mad because they didnt get their way. Like some sort of spoiled punk or a mad little girl who pees in her panties.

Don't you ever get tired of kissing his ass?

But if you must know...My bill is always paid and on time, I'm hardly little or young, and not a female....so, keep trying...I'm sure in one of your self righteous rants you might get some part of it right retard.

No…..most of the time when someone is running down a council member or the mayor it’s because they are tired of the favoritism within the government in the town. City Hall, Police Department, Court House and School District has “If you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” attitude. If you search the names in all 4 you will find many and I mean MANY that are related to each other in one form or another. I like the small town living but the government in this town gives the town a bad name. Sad that the parents within these government dept. in this town do not want a better town for their children, the children go to school then college and move off for this town has nothing to offer them for they keep saying no to company’s that want to come to Piggott all I can say is SHAME ON THEM.

If you cry babies REALLY DID know what you were talking about you could speak in specifics instead of the same ol generalities that little girls in wet panties ( I liked that one !) want to cry about.
I sort of agree with the person who said it is USUALLY someone who cant keep their elec bill paid or some other type of "run in the've had with the city.. accept I feel like it is ALWAYS someone like that... not usually.
It wouldn't matter if Jesus Christ himself were the mayor .. there would be some reject complaining

Thank you for showing a perfect example of what is wrong with this country lately and more importantly this town.

Corrupt politicians get into office and begin their power trips followed by their usual uneducated, unthinking, low self esteem, lemming supporters who believe every word that comes out of their mouth as if it was the very word of God himself.

So, how does it feel to be the problem and not the solution there uneducated lemming?

I grew up in Piggott and had the good fortune to go to college. After two years in the Army I had to take a job in another state to make a good living for my family. The place where I live is slowly dying trough loss of jobs. The county is wet 6 days a week. Clay county should wake up and Piggott should put everything on the table. Also the City council should work to get business places that pay high wages.

the mayor is up for re-election in two years. Because of the electric rates and other problems, the Mayor's seat will be easy for anyone else to win. Lets see someone with youth and energy run for
Mayor.

Quit complaining and start campaigning!

P.S. It's a good job with a salary and insurance.

you make good points, but I too also know that we did turn down ARI and we DID turn down Tyson. The council and the mayor were so scared of the lawyering that took place,(because of our fear of our overbilling city attorney at the time) we did not send a bond issue to the public for a vote. You see in both cases property needed to be bought and the crap pond rebuilt. We choose instead to run and hide in the closet, instead of letting the patrons decide. As far as unskilled labor, why did Rector get the BRTC institute and we sat on our hands once again?

Your right...I'm seriously over qualified for that position. The shit of the matter is a 10 year old could have done a better job than that dipshit did. I mean, hell, it's not like he had to run a freaking metropolis or anything...it's a po dunk town with less than 4k people...shit, it's not that damned hard...well, unless your name is Morris that is.
Your ignorance really shows in your language. If you would take out all of the cuss words in your sentences, you wouldn't have anything to say.

what's wrong?...did I hurt your fragile sensitivity? and your ignorance shows through in the fact that you side with the retards running this town.

And I wish I was ignorant....the problem is that I'm not so I see the shit these idiots pull on a daily basis and it bugs the living shit out of me because they get away with it!!!!

Trust me...if I was ignorant like yourself I could live in a fantasy world where everything was peachy f'ing keen and Morris and the town council would be heros...but sorry, I see them for what they are...a steaming pile of shit!!!!

Actually dumbass, I was at the city council meeting. The ground they wanted belongs to the Moore heirs(three sisters), and they could not come to an agreement on price. Also, the plant had to be located next to a rail spur, secondly. it was for around 11oo emploees and the crap pond would not hold that much activity on a daily basis. I know exactly where Springdale is, i have family that live there, I also know that you dont know crap about this issue. You know there is a plant in Dexter and Bloomfield? How far is that from Springdale?
