I can remember sitting in a meeting with the major and city personal at the community center when Pinnacle Frames closed and they told all of us that they are working to get new company's to come to Piggott, well that was over 5 years ago and NOT ONE new company has come into Piggott matter of fact they have closed. So my questions is where are those companies and jobs we were told was coming.

That is a very good question and it deserves a very good answer, but I really doubt you will ever get a straightn answer. Just excuses. Oh yeah, our mayor and city council are doing a wonderful job with the employment around here.

Thank goodness he will be gone, anyone with common sense can see that Piggott needs jobs. There is no way this town can be another Hardy like they are trying to make it. To say no to company's that want to come here to make the community better is plumb crazy.

Your right...I'm seriously over qualified for that position. The shit of the matter is a 10 year old could have done a better job than that dipshit did. I mean, hell, it's not like he had to run a freaking metropolis or anything...it's a po dunk town with less than 4k people...shit, it's not that damned hard...well, unless your name is Morris that is.

One of the problems is that Piggott, like many rural Arkansas cities, was dependent on unskilled manufacturing jobs. The manufacturing sector is suffering due to cheaper labor, first in China with imports, then with Mexico in outsourcing. Add to that a long recession, no confidence in the economy rebounding, a radical shift in adminstrative policy, fear of investment....and you have the current situation. I'm not for or against the mayor, simply saying it's really not his fault. He faces what almost every mayor faces in a city that has an undereducated workforce/population. Jobs in healthcare, technology and other fields have continued to boom, but the manufacturing jobs that drew Darling, Wise, Magee, Harts, Basler, etc. have been cut drastically.

Funny, ARI is hiring out the ass, and they wanted to come to Piggott, but hmmmm, one of the dipshits in charge in all their infinite wisdom decided that was not a good idea. Probably the same dipshit that decided it was a good idea to buy into a power plant...rofl...what a bunch of retards.

That happened before the current mayor was elected so don't try to blame that on him.

No one every turned Wal-Mart away from piggott. It was a "developer" who blew thru here and made a lot of promises to the landowners and the city. He was going to buy the property (where country mart is) on the cheap and sell it to wal-mart. Wal-mart turned the guy down because they already had stores in corning and kennett.

Is that why there was a sign up saying..."Walmart coming here soon" where country mart is now?

Nice try
