I'm sorry if this has been posted before...I couldn't find it.

I am wondering how I go about getting married at the Piggott courthouse. Do you have to have an appointment? Can friends/family attend? Price?

Any info would be appreciated.

When you go to get your marriage license ask them when a justice of the peace could marry you. won't be alot of room 4 family and friends but a handful could be there. i think it is pretty cheap. years ago i believe it was $50.

My husband and I got our marriage license there 9 years ago. I'm not even sure you have to have a justice of the peace, I think you just sign the marriage license and you are married!(Well, after you PAY for the license). Not really sure about that, we took ours to our preacher and he did the "marrying" part for us...LOL We didn't have to have an appointment or anything, maybe we had to have Social Security Cards. Didn't have to have birth certificates because I haven't seen mine since high school...GOOD LUCK!

I'm not sure about Piggott but where I live, south Arkansas, you can get a Justice of the Peace to marry you and give him a fee. By the time we finished, it was $83 ($58 for the license/$25 for the Justice of the Peace) which is a far cry from $10 for the license back in 1976 and then $20 for the preacher at the wedding. And just getting the license does not make you married...lol. But it is something you don't need to rush into...make the right choice the first time. Good Luck!
