With revenue up to record levels as reported by the Mountain Press, Why does Pigeon
Forge want liquor by the drink? Are we trying to disguise a drug problem with a drunk problem?

Pigeon Forge doesn't, just a few of the already rich investors do.

The only people who will make money is a few businesses who sell it. The Whole county will be taxed keeping up the Judicial and Jail systems. Pigeon Forge is a Family themed area and should be kept that way.

FAMILY THEMED? County Fair Themed? When you go on vacation, Am I the only family that usually has to make a stop at a Kmart, Walmart or at least a Dollar General Store when in town? Families visiting and living here alike, need personal items that gift shops don't carry. The addition of Walgreens and CVS has helped but, we need Target, Kohls or even a Dollar General Marketplace like Seymour has. Sevierville gets all the revenue from shoppers not buying souvenirs. To many cheap, flashy light attractions in town. Go after more sensible business that we actually need in town. Only so many bikinis and crabs a person will buy in a MTN RESORT TOWN gift shop.

I think "Keep Dreaming" is on to something. All the decision makers are so intent upon competing with our sister cities that they have lost focus on that PF's brand really is family themed. We have a couple of young men who have it in their head liquor and that is all they can think about. What about a Super Target with a really nice theater out on Wears Valley or Veterans Blvd. Get stores back into the empty malls and throw in a dollar store or three. That is why they need to have a town hall meeting and get some ideas from the local people. After all, it is their town too. I've heard how it is on Rod Run weekend with all the drunks in town. That could be every weekend, if Earlene and her boys have their way. The scary part is that they are determined to get what they want regardless of what others think or what it will do to PF as we know it.

You're trying to run having a drink and getting shitfaced drunk together. If people want a drink with their meal, they will either bring in bottles or minitures purchased elsewhere or buy a drink in a restaurant and pay the taxes to the town. Trying to control other ADULT'S lifestyles never works with those who feel they don't need someone running their lives.

I agree people will drink and those same people will get "shitfaced drunk" as you call it. With all the empty spaces in PF it is ripe for a bunch of little joints to pop up with no intent of having a nice meal. Their only intent will be to get "shitfaced drunk". Look at the roaming gnome in Sevierville. How many empty mall spaces is in Pigeon Forge that are not close to a church that would meet the requirements? PF will look even cheaper when all the little bars pop up everywhere.

Your dumping together all people who drink as drunks is the same as saying all people that go to church are self righteous bible thumping zealots. Would you like to go back to a sleepy little town with no tourists,no jobs, nothing for the young people to do, and a few old money people calling all the shots? Towns like that wither away as progress passes them by.
