I am for liquor by the drink because now we have wine and beer so what is the difference. I would rather have my child see a glass of something else besides a bottle of beer sitting on the table next to us. Someone is foolish because in order to fill the big new convention center we must have liquor by the drink and by the way it should have been named
The Smoky Mountain Convention Center. What is wrong with the people in our city hall. They must be dumb or ignorant or something. The name would sell itself whoever would know what or where Leconte even was.

We need to clean out city hall once and for all.

Now according to supporters LBD will add taxes for the schools and this is why we need it. If Pigeon Forge votes in liquor by the drink the revenue from the tax will not cover the cost to provide Police Services. The problem caused by the opening of Pubs and late night bars will generate more calls for police than than the current allotment can handle. In turn more police needed and tax revenue to fund them.
I do not think the majority of visitors to Pigeon Forge want to mix the bar scene with a family vacation. I will not and do not subject my family to a restaurant with an open bar. If people want a drink they should do it in the privacy of their own confinement and responsibility. Sevier County already has enough Irresponsible drunks on the roadways.

You're confusing emotion with reality. Liquor is there already and there is no control with people drinking at all the motel rooms and banquet facilities. Control and containment in bars would be easier to control and drinks would be taxed which is NOT being done with liquor brought in. Not subjecting your family to an open bar? Kind of like an Ostrich sticking their head in the sand to escape danger. Teaching kids to outlaw anything they they don't see eye to eye with is also teaching intolerance and hatred. It's better to be able to show right from wrong unless you plan to follow your children when they go out in the REAL world.

It is going to take a lot more than liquor to fill that events center. Go ahead and buy into all the lies about how great it is going to do. The same person, Mike Wilds, that helped Sevierville is telling the city how to set it up. He really helped Sevierville a lot and their convention center is not coming anywhere near paying for itself. Did you ever think about how some of our current restaurants that have been here for years are going to stay in business after Darby puts several popular chains on the island. Will they be able to keep up or have to go out of business. Does anyone care if they stay in business or not as long as the island gets what they want. I hate to tell you but there is a big difference between a shot of tequila and a beer. You get a lot drunker and it takes a lot less. Think about that for a minute. In a year Pigeon Forge will be a different town with bars and lots of drunks. When employees get out of work they will go for a drink like they do in Gatlinburg now. Stages West is already planning to do a country bar. How many more will follow suit. Maybe that is why Tim Kellar is so for liquor. He want his band to play at some bar. All they want is to make money.

Thomas A, I am emotional about this. I have seen the problems caused by the Vices of Alcohol and substance abuse. Pigeon Forges own City Manager has seen the effects of tragedy caused by alcohol along with other families of Sevier County. This decision will affect more people by not limiting the alcohol vice. If people want to drink let them do it in a place where they will not affect the public. As for my children they are in Church on Sunday learning the Gospel and will hopefully turn to the word in time of need, not mans Pharmaceutical pill or Alcohol.

Good talking with you!

You're trying to imply that everyone that would go out and have a drink with dinner is a gutter crawling alcoholic. You are painting pictures of nice upper end restaurants being in the same league as a strip joint or a honky tonk road house. Not so! Yes there will always be people in society with drug, alcohol and family abuse, and we also be saddled with the overzealous religious fanatics that demand that the world live according to their standards.
