The "Texas of Panama", what an insult to Panama. Who in their right mind would want to refer to the providence of Chiriqui as Texas just because it has an agricultural economy. Who invented that expression, a big-headed Texan?

Hey,I'm in TX and I even think this is lame! I read the article noticed that it was from New York. I guess they have no sense of geography there. If is isn't New York it has to be texas? The idiots need to go back to school.

I am from Panamá, I lived in Chiriquí for about 10 years and I have the same amount of time living in Texas. True enough Texas and Chiriquí HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON, is not fair to compare places like that. Is VERY DISRESPECTFUL to both countries, if it was like that, NO COUNTRY WOULD HOLD A UNIQUE PLACE IN THIS WORLD. Both to me are pretty in their own way though...

Having spend a lot of time in Texas over the years, and stretch in Panama both are the same. Nothing to do in either.

My greates fears is that Panama will experiencing the same tragedy that happened to Texas, when the Mexican government allow American settlers to live in Texas, but later on, the American settler betrayed the hospitility and stole Texas from Mexico. I hope this is not another Alamo!

Here in Us we the Spanish people are suffering from persecussion as well as victims of racism since the minutemen are ridden again. We the Spanish people including the Panamanian are suffering from the racist immigration laws and our children are living a constant state of terror as a result of the persecution against the immigrants in USA while the American are living as a queen and kings in Panama!

Maria Soledad. Learn history. Mexico did not own texas. Spain did. Much of our history just as your is from Spain. I do not think you speak your native language which would be an Aztec dialect. You speak Spanish or did Mexico nvent that also? Spain left, Mexico claimed it and lost it to the Texans. Texas was up for grabs and you lost.

I am an American of Cuban descent, & never have suffered any sort of descrimination from any american. What I believe is that you suffer from an inferiority complex.Your so called "spanish people," lacks meaning beacuse most of the spanish so called people in USA have not an iota of spanish blood.

Spain left Mexico with vast territories and most of the northern mexican territory was unoccupied except by some indian tribes. Mexico cared a cucumber about Texas, and can you imagine what Texas would like today??? I do not want to even think about!!!!.
I guess you should learn a little bit of history and stop whining so much about Me (chi) co... Yes, the X used to sound lke a ch in old spanish, just like the word "chicano."

There is some very positive similarities between them. Chiricanos are very independent and likely the most productive and have the best work ethic of any region in Panama. I often joke that if you were to have car trouble in Chiriqui that 5 folks would stop to see if they could help. In the city probably 5 would stop to rob you (if they stopped at all). Chiricanos are very proud too; just like Texans are. So for a former Texan I like to think Chiriqui is my 'new Texas' but with old Texan values.
