I recently purchased a BichPoo from this breeder. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone. The place is filthy, and they sold me a dog that looked completely different in pics than in person. He has a skin condition on his hind legs, to where a lot of the hair is missing (along with scabs). They also state on their website that their puppies are well socialized. The dog that I bought was far from that. He is scared of his own shadow. Literally. I am not sure if he has been abused or what, but he is 5 1/2 months old and acts like he has NEVER been around people at all. False advertising.

Dogs are only as mean as they are raised to be. Pits have a bad rap. Being bullies by nature they will attack smaller dogs ,yes so keep the ankle biters indoors.

Wow, if you are going to say such horrible things about this dog you got I would think you would at least know the correct spelling of there last name. Sounds like you are STUPID!

Ha ha ha. Who is stupid???? You didn't even use the proper "there" in your little remark. It is actually "their" so brush up on your English for me. You must be a good friend of theirs or a relative! I hope they go out of business. I've noticed on their website that it seems harder and harder for them to get rid of their pups and they are coming down on the prices when they have a pup longer than anticipated. Hooray! Just need to keep spreading the word about them and let others know not to deal with them.

So, let me see if I have this straight. You saw a dog online and went to buy it. When you got there, it was a different dog, had a skin problem, and was not as social as you thought it should be. Yet you still bought it?

Sounds like you're the one that screwed up and you're looking for someone else to blame. Take some responsibility for your own actions before you go after someone else.

No actually, if you knew the whole story perhaps you would see it correctly. I see that you are from Purdy Mo, yourself...which has a population of what? 200? So maybe you are friends with these people. I drove 4 1/2 hours to get this dog. That's right. 4 1/2 hours. Jack kept telling me that the dog was "never like this" and was just not comfortable around us yet. HA HA. Also, the hair/skin condition? Well, he lied about that. Saying that it was caused from him going in/out of a doggy door. Upon taking him to MY vet, they said the location of the missing hair/red skin was in no way related to a doggy door. That he had some sort of condition that caused this. His hair has STILL not grown back and I have had him for a while now. These people are just dirty backyard breeders that don't give a crap about their dogs. Period.

For what it's worth, Purdy's pop. is about 1200. Yes, I know both Jack's: no I am not related, nor am I a particular friend of either's. The only real reason I know either is that I went to school with the younger Jack's kids and worked at the same company as the elder Jack years ago.

I've been buying my own dogs since I was a teenager. One thing I know is that an unsocial pup is unsocial, it doesn't matter what day it is. Although, some unsocial pups can become social with their owners when they get to know them, but I avoid that when I'm buying. I also no to avoid any dog with a skin condition, joint proble, etc. I can also tell the difference between a skin condition and trauma from chewing, fighting, or as you mention, climbing in an out of the cage.

You drove 4 1/2 hours, believed a salesman's pitch, and bought a pup. That's no one's fault but yours. Learn how to buy dogs if you want to avoid doing it again. Buying a dog is more than just going somewhere to talk to the seller and dropping a check.

No, actually I did MUCH research and bought this pup based on pictures that were sent to me and were on their website. It wasn't until I arrived did I see this dog that was MUCH different than what I was told via email AND on the phone. And as far as the pics? They did a good job hiding his skin condition. It is a shame that people cannot be honest. ESPECIALLY when they are selling pups. I reported them to the BBB since they weree avoiding emails, etc. and they did not contact me until after the BBB contacted them. Kinda funny if you ask me. I just want people to be aware of them and to take their business to a "reputable breeder"......

I purchased a puppy through this breeder 3 yrs ago. I have not been to the kennel as my puppy was shipped to me. My puppy came clean and free of any problems, though my vet thought the puppy was over vaccinated based on the records provided. My puppy was well socialized, healthy, and has had no problems. Sorry your experience was not good. Love my dog!

I purchased a puppy through another company that was helping this breeder sell their puppies. Little Charlie was shipped to me but came clean, well socialized and very lovable. I get compliments on him everywhere I take him and he has had a clean bill of health. Sorry for anyone that had issues. I guess when one buys online, you always take chances.

Purchased a Havanese from Jack in the Winter of 2010. I was looking for a healthy male or female white Havanese to give to my mother for christmas. The dog I got was 5 months old and was given to me for a low price of $500 which included flights to Boston and cage. I should have known that it wasn't a good idea right when I saw the price but I was so desperate to get my mother her perfect christmas gift. The dog that came was dirty and not properly cleaned. HE WAS NOT SOCIALIZED AT ALL! Biggest problem I have seen throughout these forums and blogs. He was afraid of his own shadow, and HATED MEN !!! When I researched Country Lane Pups at the time there was nothing written online about them. Today my dog is doing amazing, my golden retriever (9 years old) has befriended him and together they play outside all the time. It took us almost a year to get him to be a normal dog. Today he still freaks when something is dropped. If someone as much as burps or farts he runs away.....He has become very close to my dad and brother and has come a LONG way. I look at him today and thank god that we were able to rescue this puppy and give him the home he deserved.

I came across this forum when looking for a dog to get my aunt because she has grown very fond of my mother's Havanese. However after reading the horrible things said about the Schlessman I can 100% agree THAT THEY ARE NOT TREATING THERE DOGS PROPERLY BASED ON THE BEHAVIOR OF MY FIVE MONTH OLD HAVANESE.

We bought a puppy from these people in june 2010
we could not be more pleased
We visited their home on two occasions before we completed the purchase - the property and the kennels were clean and well maintained - in my opinion as a person who spent many years raising horses - this operation is not a puppy mill but a well maintained kennel - we did a vet check with a local vet before we completed the purchase -a healthy and as it turns out very well socialized puppy
I would have no issues or concerns with purchasing another puppy from this family

We purchased a 12 week old female Havanese from the Schlessman's and she was flown to us last January 2013 to Tucson, AZ. She arrived in a clean crate, with records and extra food. She was friendly and happy upon arrival. Well socialized and has slept through the night from day one. She's become a wonderful addition to our family. I have no problems with the breeders and they answered all my questions and emails; with an invitation to contact them at any time. I wish BanPuppyMills had the same experience that I did. I don't know why we would have such opposite reviews?
