I work at the McDonalds in Neosho and seeing the photos and hearing about the fire is very startling. The crew from Monett is more than welcome in my eyes to work here in Neosho until the store is rebuilt. Yes, our hours will be cut some and the shifts will be filled, but they still need income. After speaking to a manager from Monett, the fore was obviously not the employees fault. My heart goes out to you.

That McDonald's was my very first job 14 yrs ago. My first boyfriend gave me a promise ring in their dining room. It's the end of an era!!!

Why did it have to be McDonalds? Why not Long John Silver's? McDonalds had the best fries.

In response to your comment about Long John Silvers...apparently you have never been to Monett, because not only do we not have a Long John Silvers, we hardly have any places to eat. A town of over 12,000...and we have to drive 40 miles to the east or west to have a variety of places to go out to dinner. Most restaurants in Monett dont survive. McDonalds is one of the few that actualy have...until the fire of course.

Its a sad day for McDonalds and the Monett Team. My brother and I started at that McDonalds 26 years ago. We are supervisors now and soon to be owner/operators. We always wanted to come home and own our 1st McDonalds! We will always have fond memories of that McDonalds. We wish their team the very best.

Did they take the LJS out of the KFC and I not know it? At the same time, the last census puts Monett barely over 7,000 population. They'd have to almost double in size in the last 10 years to hit 12,000, which I can assure you, hasn't happened. Maybe if you count Monett, the surrounding rural areas, Pierce City and Purdy into the mix you can hit 12,000.

Monett has more variety than you probably want to admit, and many that have been around for years. Dairy Queen, Monett Family Restaurant, KFC, Mazzios, Pizza Hut, Braums, and Taco Bell have all been around for quite some time. Acambaro is now a mainstay, as it appears Burger King is. You've got the BBQ place where Taco Palace used to be, two Chinese restaurants, and The Bayou. Of course, even if they get anything good in the place by Herd's or the joint by Jack Henry, they don't last long due to lack of business.

You hardly have to drive 40 miles, either. Aurora has a number of places to eat, including Bootleggers. Pierce City has Frida Mae's. Cassville will have the Rib open again soon.

There's hardly a lack of places to eat. Perhaps you're too picky. But don't worry, I'm willing to be the McDonald's is rebuilt and open within 3 months.

In response to your comment about not having a Long John Silvers, I only lived there 3 years and just left in September, what is in between Mazzio's and US Bank, then?!?! OMG talk about how small Monett is and you missed that...you probably didn't know there's a KFC either.

The LJS is in with KFC... you must have included the "working" population, it's only around 8,500.

They just started the rebuilding process, which was delayed by insurance investigators and demolition. From my understanding, it'll take 90 days and it'll be bigger and sprinklered this time.

IT HAS BEEN 4 YEARS. MCDONALD'S IS BACK! AND IT IS BIGGER AND BETTER. BUT YOU CAN SMELL THE GURGLINICKS WHEN YOU ARE IN THE PARKING LOT. BUT THE FOOD IS OKAY AND IT DON'T TASTE LIKE FIRE HYDREET SMELLS OF THE GURGLINICKS. COME SEE IT. THE DOG DOES BARK ALOT TOO. AND THEY SERVE FOR BREAKFAST TOAST WITH PEANUT BUTTER AND MAYONNAISE ON IT TOO.
