The water is rising like crazy in Poplar Bluff. I drive a school bus and drove through so much water I feel like a fish. I saw roads flooded today that I have never seen flooded. I hope that everyone who had to be out in this crazy weather makes it home safely. I am sorry for the individual who lost their loved one in the flood waters.

I am so sorry for you and your family's loss. I want to send my deepest sympathy and many prayers. Walter was one of the sweetest people. Mary Jane also.

I am from Ellington. My grandparents owned the grocery store across the street from their store. I have fond memories of going over to the store as a child. They were always so great. Walter will be sadly missed by many!

Have you tried contacting the Patterson police or sheriff's department? They would know where area shelters have been set up and may be able to put you in contact with those shelters to see if your loved ones are there. If conditions allow, they may be able to do a wellness check if your folks have not evacuated. Good luck and God bless. Donna

If the black river doesn't crest soon, it will run over 5th street at the base of the bridge. The intersection of 67&53 was flooded out and closed when i left work. Stuff from the salvage yard was floating in the road. I honestly think if the rain continues through the night, you won't be able to cross town between the north and south side of town. Several of the parking lots in the rowe parkway area were flooded out, including briggs and stratton.

Kay, my deepest sympathy for you and your family. I lived in Piedmont for 14 years. I heard about your uncle on TV. Also, about the person in Marble Hill whose truck was swept away. We are so very sorry for your family.

My family is all in Piedmont. As far as I know nobody from there has been hurt or is in any immediate danger, the phones both landlines and cells are not working. The area you talk about 34&49 did not get any life threatening flooding as far as I know. Things are bad there, but slowly getting better. The last I heard you are not able to get into town but no one is in need of rescue that they have not gotten to. It will be a while before they can get out, so they just haft to sit tight for now.

I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. I used to live in Ellington and still have family there. Walter and Mary Jane were always great people. God's blessings for comfort for you and all of the family.
