In a statement released Sunday morning by Iron County Coroner Tony Cole and Interim Sheriff John Rueweller, it was announced that Iron County Jail inmate Russell C. Eldridge, Jr., 56, of Des Arc, died Thursday, Nov. 4, while in custody. According to Cole and Rueweller, Eldridge was being held on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance following his Nov. 3 arrest.

Personnel from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office and Arcadia Valley Ambulance rendered assistance and aid to Eldridge who, despite their efforts, was declared dead at the jail. An autopsy was requested by Coroner Cole—standard procedure when someone dies while in law enforcement custody or confinement.

The autopsy was conducted on Friday at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington. Final results of the autopsy are pending. Based on the preliminary autopsy findings, however, Coroner Cole indicated there was nothing suspicious about Eldridge’s death

What about butch complaining about chest pains, and being told that "your o.k. go back to your cell" you mean that isn't SUSPICIOUS.
oh really

Were you there with him? Because if not how did you get your information. Did Butch tell you? Just rumors as usual. That is all this town is good for.

I believe that they said that, because my husband was locked up in Iron County a few weeks ago and got staff while in there and they wouldnt take him to the dr or er. He had to go to the ER when he got out on his own time and be cut open. So before you go and say snippy stuff like that, maybe YOU should knwo facts!

If you are concerned about how you will be treated at the jail here is a simple solution--- DON'T BREAK THE FREAKING LAW

So you think it's ok for law men to treat people bad just because they have gotten into trouble?...you need mental help yourself....i will pray for you..

Nope don't think they should be treated bad but don't think they should be treated like kings either. If they would get a freaking job and live like respectable people they wouldn't have to worry about it would they. Personally I think the repeat offenders should be shot and put out of our misery. But all you bleeding heart liberals want to make sure they have cable tv, weights and all the luxeries of free people. Wake up that is why they keep going back to jail.

As far as I am concerned, if he was manufacturing, then good riddance one less person I have to worry about selling drugs! I honestly wish that this town would get cleaned out of druggies, by whatever means necessary!

I can not believe how uncaring some people are. He was denied medical assistance and that needs to be looked into.It is not a rumor! Some of the deputies there have a problem with keeping their mouths shut and it was told by one of them.
