Several newspapers in the Verde Valley carried reports about the power plays, bulling and insults from members of the city council and mayors from Cottonwood and its neighboring town of Clarkdale. Cottonwood wants to annex State Trust land and build 50,000 houses in pristine Trust land. Cottonwood spent over 100,000 dollars to draw up plans. The problem is there is no water.

I wrote an editorial on these issues last week from a prospective of a concerned citizen who proposes alternative uses for this land. It was published in the Verde News, Cottonwood Journal and the Camp Verde News. It was also published on iSedona.biz.

All of these papers redacted its contend. iSedona.biz removed it.

Cottonwood city council, well some one on the council will benefit from this land grab. Over time there have been annexations "to preserve the land". Once annexed the land becomes more likely for land trades. Soon after this they begin building. the Verde valley's resources are already stretched to support its population. Until there has been ten or twenty years of no water shortages, there should be a complete moratorium on new construction, or we will one choke on our little dust bowl we will have created.
One word of warning Gene, watch your back Cottonwood council will come after you now. They don't like finger pointers or ones who prove them wrong. Just ask the Carl's and others who raise their ire for daring to stand up for their rights or for the rights of others.

They already have Ginny. The number of complaints I filed since 2004 to Doug Bartosh, then Chief of Police and now City Manager would pile up to three feet on your desk.

The late Marney Ireys (Mary Hutchinson) also warned me of this before she passed away in 2005. They tortured her and Cap for years over a simple unification proposal for the schools here. Believe me, this type of Western 'hospitality' will be dealt with swiftly ...Trust me.

I'll keep you posted, and many thanks for your suggestions.

As Ginny said Gene "Be Careful" Bad things have happened here to those who go against the ones in charge. Too many have forgotten.".. for the people, of the people and by the people" even though it is an important part of our heritage. I think your idea of a regional airport to be interesting and workable. That said I prefer the land as natural as possible. Maybe there would be a way to combine nature with an airport some how , be interesting to think about any way.
Be vigilante and watch out for frame jobs, it is a weapon of choice around here. I had wondered how some things were taking place until I read about DNA being faked. keep on writing and pushing for civil liberties friend.

Thanks Rick, and admire your idea of integrating nature with our new airport.

In regards to the frame jobs; this has been already attempted by an apartment manager here in Cottonwood. She lost her job as a result. I moved outside the city limits for protection, yet the local 'gangs' still stock me and my family every where we go. Sad.

This was the subject of my 2003 award winning film, " THE BOUNTY". It is a metaphor on Tyranny vs. Love, and the strength of our Constitution.

Did this company they hired win a bid? Why was it not placed in a sealed bid? Why were we not informed of its true intent? The best way to accomplish this fraudulent 110k dollar expenditure is to fire the city manager who gets $103,000 plus benefits. He is solely responsible for the whole mess. The buck stops there. That would even it up for one year. We could do without a city manager who has demonstrated his illegal uses of his past police influence to persecute small business and families that he does not like. Secondly, we need to change this entire city council and mayor on election year. I demand that this entire 110,000 plus dollars be repaid to the city budget, along with a expected apology that would be expected. Then everyone involved in this scheme - REMOVE yourself from public Service.
