The press needs to look into the deal Jeff Fix made with this developer to being Big Lots to Pickerington.

Don't believe it? Check his campaign finance report. They own him and his council vote.

Whose the developer? It used to be Will Roth, but he is long gone out of the picture.

Doesn't matter what you say it's going there. If the company wants it there and they got the's done.

Says alot about the people commenting on here too.

As long as the residents don't support it, it won't last long. Stay out and it will fold. Hopefully it closes before it effects property values in the community. A Sports Authority, with the soccer complex going in right behind there, or a Menards, since they are currently looking to expand in the Columbus area, would be MUCH better fits with the community, and its long term goals. Big Lots will be a definite eye sore for the community.

They won't be here to serve PIGTOWN. They will be there to serve who ever wants to come. Because Kohls was $15.00 and Odd Lots was $10.00. You better move now because they are coming to get YOU PIGTOWN PROUD. Ha!!Ha!!!!!!!

What a crock, Ghettosburg.

Unless Big Lots makes some immediate changes they will fail, and go bankrupt in the end. They started here in Columbus, when Consolidated International opened the first "Odd Lots" stores in Columbus, in 1982. The stores were fun to shop then. You could find amazing bargains on quality goods that truly were over runs, inventory from bankrupt stores, freight damaged goods and odd lots from manufacturers. In the early 80's the stores were a bit disorganized (but clean) but the search was part of the fun. Now it is pretty much imported junk in dirty stores.

The stores are no longer fun. The merchandise is more often than not, cheap Chinese junk that is grossly over priced. Dollar Tree and similar dollar stores often have the same merchandise as Big Lots for much less cost. On the grocery items Big Lots sells even Kroger and Giant Eagle are often less expensive. The furniture appears to be what Value City Furniture would not buy.

Big Lots has tried to be all things to all people and not doing it well. The top management needs to look at what made the original "Odd Lots" stores work. Now they are just trying to be a store that fits somewhere between Dollar Tree and Wal Mart, and doing it poorly.

Dublin, OH has a Big Lots. As a younger resident of Pickerington, who maintains a property & pays taxes just the same as the rest, I feel the older residents have a skewed view of what Pickerington is as a community. I have great pride. But, lets be real...Big Lots ALONE will not bring down Pickerington. The crime on Brice, Tussing, Gender might. Be real. I swear, I better not see you folks in Big Lots at Christmas-time.

Pick town, while I love shopping there, it is fast coming down hill, I remember when there wasn't any car lots, now there is one behind pizza hut. I have no doubt that there will be more. The Walmart is what is bringing in the ghetto crowd and shoplifters. I know that Walmart is not technologically pickerington, but close enough to drag the unwanted people. Big Lots is not going to make much difference now. Maybe five years ago, when the economy was good, but everyone is in debt and the whole town is going under. Over crowded schools, too many housing developments and high taxes are on the horrible. Someone said something about the vacant houses, well there are a lot because people were living outside the means trying to be snobs and be above everyone else, look where that got them. Some of you people need to look at the reality, pickerington isn't an elite town anymore, where only the best of the best live. Welcome to the real world, this is everyday life for most people. You should be glad that there is a store coming, some jobs will be created and some good deals to be had. Yeah, chances are that there will be a dollar store coming along too, but what are you gonna do about it. Suck it up and quit Bit@#ing about it.

This store will do NOTHING for our community, except bring into the area more people to shoplift at Kohls and all the other higher quality locations in the area. Ever been to a Big Lots? Look at the crowd it attracts.
You really think Kohls is a high end store? than's funny! It's a discount store, Pickerington has no high end stores.

As far as the police being spread thin, they have a cruiser sitting on private property at the Gym 1 block from this location, looking for people to run the stop sign. I don't call that stretched too thin, spending most of the day sitting on private property and not patrolling the streets I'm sure they aren't spread too thin.

256 is a non stop strip of bars & pizza joints - So how is a Big Lots any worse than those trashy bars and all the drunks it brings to the area?
no kidding

If someone cannot recognize quality in staff then damn 'em. I travel regularly and make it a point to visit the Ashland store on my route. The staff is ok and there is a girl I am dying to talk to every time I stop. I make a stop there at least three times a month just to talk to this woman...I get a charge out of her. Yeah, it's a little stalkerish, but I am an old man with an understanding of a true woman. I love this girl. If you have talked to her then you will know. Any updates appreciated.
