I live within 200 feet of this intersection, and have been witness to (eyes or ears) a large number of accidents, both big and small, at this location (1/28/08 approx 3pm in which a driver was airlifted by helicopter off the Superior Tube Lawn). I was also involved in a near miss in which i avoided due to my awareness of the drivers near this intersection.

With Superior Tube, main school bus routes and a number of residental locations surrounding this high speed crossroad, when will we see a traffic light enter into the equation, or at least a traffic officer to bear witness to the trends as it seems nothing is being done to make this intersection safer?

I'm drawing a blank as to where you're talking about...

That being said, see if you can bring it up at the next town meeting. If that doesn't work, get in touch with the town's supervisors - if he refuses to do anything, elevate it to the county.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone died there yet?

Unsure of the outcome from yesterday's accident, however, anytime helicopters and chainsaws are involved, it is not a good situation. From previous accidents I do not believe any deaths occured, but there was a time span of two weeks where 5+ accidents occured, and not due to weather.

With that, the location is on G-town Pike prior to it merging into Ridge pike at the collegeville Bridge (Specks Chicken and Adult World) if you are traveling into Collegeville below the Hess Station.

Sorry this is so many days late just came across this today....
As far as the intersection I agree it is a dangerous area and yes there are many accidents there quite simply the roads were in place long before the massive development in the area thus resulting in a traffic condtion the intersection was not ment for. Mandapants to answer your question Germantown Pike is a State road so the decisions regarding it lie mostly with PennDOT and Thankfully no one has died there.

Steve the accident the other day resulted in two people being taken to Trauma centers in Phila mostly due to their injuries and the fact that they needed to be extricated from the car resulted in the need to use the helos. without going into too much detail......when a person suffers a traumatic injury they need to be in a trauma center within 1 hour for the greatest chances of recovery. You may hear this refered to as the "golden hour". If you want to learn more about this or how EMS works in Montco Id be glad to give you a tour or even a ride along

The site was where the Perkiomen Indians were massacred. They were burried where under the parking lot of the book store. A fort was built to defend the area, just above the burial site at Spec's. There will always be problems at that intersection. It was a settlement. Troops came down the perky, up the perky, down Germantown Pike and 422, where they met and wiped out the native population.

I was the one driving East on Germantown pike that day when a couple of teens not paying attention pulled out right in front of me. Stopped at the stop sign and then pulled right out in front of me. I never had a chance. My neck was broken and my life changed forever. A stoplight might have worked but 5 years later there is still not one and there have been many accidents since then. It is not just the Germantown pike intersection, it is also the Ridge Pike intersection.
I have a reason for posting 5 years later. It has to do with the Lower Providence Police Department and an officer who 5 years later accused me of being a drunk driver who almost killed a couple of teens. When I asked him if he was out of his mind he grabbed me by the neck and told me that's it buddy now you are going to jail.(I did not go to jail but that is a whole other story)
I broke my neck, totaled my car, was out of work for over 6 months and after 2 years finally settled out of court and after all of that FIVE YEARS later some cop tells me I was drunk driving??!!! I know this is not the forum for this but why on earth would some dumb cop even remember the accident?! The last interaction I had with the police was back in 2008 when I was in the accident so you tell me why this guy would bring it up?!!
No prior police involvement AT ALL and five years later this cop WRONGFULLY accuses me of drunk driving and hitting a couple of teens? Big Brother is watching and he has his facts wrong. That is really scary.
