Most of the trails in Evansburg St Park are for hiking or horses. Any good detours off the Perkiomen??

I would check with either Bikesport in Trappe or Tailwind(?) in Schwenksville. Both shops sponsor rides and know every trail around here.

For Evansburg, turn onto Cedar Lane off of Ridge Pike (where the Smokey the Bear hut is, at the bottom of Mile Hill, at the Skippack Creek), there is a parking area. Head to the right from the parking area, ride the path down along the creek, you will get to an old abandoned road, ride up the road, and then the trail picks up along the top of ridge there, and you can pretty much explore/ride around from there. Don't know if it's an official trail per se, but one that we take. I would say it's a moderate ride if I were to rate, it's usually a nice after-work ride during the week.

I usually just do the Audubon Loop trail, but this sounds nice. Are there many other people on the trail? I'd feel weird if there was noone else around.

Evansburg's got the 5mile mountain bike trail off of Fern Rd (just off Ridge Pike), it's ok for the most part but if you want something more I'd suggest venturing to Spring Mountain. My friends built Launch Bike Park there last year & decent riding (both XC & DH). Aside from that check out French Creek up in Elverson area. Those are pretty much your local mountain bike trails in that area. If you venture out further you'll find places like Bear Creek resort, Marsh Creek, & Mt Penn (Antietam Lake).

To amend my original post, I am referring to the Fern Road trail that he references above, not Cedar Lane. Cedar is a different side of the park, and I got the two road names confused. As far as many people on it, no I don't often see people in the loop that I run, but I never ride it by myself, usually with my husband.

Best trail in the area is at Green Lane. Take 29 North to Knight Rd and make a left. Take Knight Road over the bridges and there is a parking lot on your left. From here, ride your bike back over the bridges and pick up the trail that takes you down along the water. It's about nine miles round trip and some of it is very challenging.

French Creek state park has great trails which are very rocky and technical. Green Lane has fun trails that are less technical but still fun. Wissahickon in philly has great trails and isn't too far, look for Valley Green Inn on a map.

Just rode the Fern Rd. Loops tonight after work. Pretty intense climbs, and some pretty technical parts, especially if you're unfamiliar with the trail (it was my first time riding there). The singletrack is tight, mainly because of all the growth along the sides. Lot's of poison ivy too (don't go down along the creek if you are sensitive to ivy). Another good place to ride is over at Betzwood Picnic area where Trooper Rd runs into 422. The trails are north of the Schuylkill R. off the groomed trails. Might take a few times exploring to get onto them. The other option is to start at the other end, at Pawlings Farm on Pawlings road.
