Former Reporter Asks Commissioners To Support 422 Tolls
Authors of a study that may suggest tolling drivers on U.S. Route 422, and using that money to improve the highway and reduce its congestion, "are not making their case well enough in the court of public opinion," says a former journalist who now serves on the Spring City PA borough council.

I can not believe they would actually charge people who have to sit in that traffic every day!! Has there been a study done to look at the affects of potentially more traffic on side streets, trying to bypass the 422 tolls? Another example of the political system placing the cost burden on the public because of it's own inablity to curtail spending.

What a joke. Tolling is the worst thing you can do. It will only push the locals onto the smaller roads in the area and increase the traffic congestion. It was clearly evident when they were doing construction last summer on 422 and when they did construction on Township Line Road in Limerick. Everybody got off Rt.422 in Collegeville and took the back roads up to Limerick.
If they start tolling 422, then it will only be a matter of time before they decide to start tolling other highways in the area. We already pay tolls on the Turnpike and that road is in crappy condition.
I'd be much more in favor of a 2 or 3 cent increase in the PA gas tax or even a small increase in the yearly vehicle registration fee.$36/yr is dirt cheap in my opinion and I'd rather raise the vehicle registration fee than do tolling. The money raised from that can be used to help with roads throughout the state. Anything is better than tolling.

Look at the over-crowding on Ridge Pike ot Rte 23 anytime 422 is backed up by an accident. Put tolls on 422 and every day will look like that.

Pay to sit in traffic. What a novel idea. "Back roads" are not equipped to handle daily local traffic let alone those trying to avoid a toll road. We have to pay for their screw-up. This issue should have been addressed 10 years ago. By the time this all gets worked out, another 5 years will pass and construction traffic will equal an even more nightmarish commute for all.
