We are expecting our first child in and have started the difficult search for a day care in the Trappe/Collegeville area. I think we have finally narrowed our choice to the kiddie academy our children of America, but would really appreciate any feed back on these two centers! Thanks in advance :)

Have you considered Flanagans on 113? I send my 2 year old there and love it. When doing my initial search I also looks at Children of America and Kiddie Academy. In the end I ruled Kiddie Academy out for a number of reasons and had a difficult time choosing between COA and Flanagans but shose Flanagans in the end and couldnt be happier. But if its strictly between COA and Kiddie Academy I would go with COA. Good Luck, this is one of the first of many difficult decisions you will make:-)

Have you checked out Kinderworks by township line? I am not sure of the availability but we love it. We started there the day they opened a few years ago and left Goddard in Royersford (for many reasons along with a bunch of other families). I am not sure of the price of the other places you checked but this might be at the higher end in the area. It is setup like a private school and it is amazing. It would take too long to cover everything and we checked out everywhere else at one time or another. We will be having our upcoming child going there as well

I have been to both children of america and I am currently at kiddie acadmey. We left COA b/c of class size and convenience when my daughter starts kindergarten at evergreen. Since we have been at kiddie academy its been a great experience. The teachers are experienced, loyal and educated. The owner is not just sitting behind a desk...but in the rooms helping and assisting. I don't feel as if kiddie acadmey is a money making machine..like many franchise daycares. Honestly...you can't go wrong chosing kiddie acadmey.

My son attends Kiddie Academy in Collegeville. He started there when he was about 9 weeks old. It was really hard going back to work. Ms. Carol and Ms. Pat in the infant room were wonderful. We've had great experience with many of the teacher's there. I work as a behavior analyst and am constantly going into preschools and daycare settings. It's not often you walk into a building and are greeted by everyone even if they are not your son or daughter's teacher. I would and have recommended KA to many of my friends and family. Good luck in your search.

Hi - I would definitely not go to Flanagan's. My niece worked there for a short time and was shocked at how some of the children were treated. She quit. Quite frankly from what she told me I would be surprised if they were sued. It's a difficult decision figuring out where to leave your child. I checked out every daycare in the area before I can to KA. My son has been there three years and he absolutely loves it. He is older now and goes for aftercare, holiday's, and summer camp. It switched hands shortly after we joined and the new owner is very committed to a diverse and nurturing environment. I chose KA because it's a close knit community and my child is not just a number.

Both my boys love KA. All of the staff are compassionate and make me feel confident that my boys get the best care. Miss Pat has been there taking care of the infants since the center opened in 2005. She is like a grandmom to all "her" babies. My boys now go to before and aftercare as well as camp. If you want a daycare that will give you peace of mind, then go with KA!

Please let me know what you decide, and also if you don't mind sharing some of the one's you visited and why you eventually ruled them out, I would appreciate it. We are also expecting our first child in August, and are starting to think about this. Does anyone have any opinions on the daycares located within the churches in the Collegeville area? I plan to look at these as well as the "commercial" daycares.

We have 2 children and have been with Kiddie Academy for over 6 years now. We absolutely LOVE IT. It is very family oriented and the teachers and owner are always open to ideas and suggestions. I feel completely safe with my children there. It's a top quality day care center!!

My children have attended both Kiddie Academy of Collegeville and Children of America. We started at 4 years ago KA and then changed because COA was closer and had bus transportation for my oldest son. After a year, we are now back at KA and hope to stay until the kids are out of day care. The staff at KA are very nice and genuinely concerned about the overall well being and learning experience the children receive. I have found that COA and some other corporate franchises seem to be concerned with the number of children enrolled and not the care of the children. My youngest son was in the infant room at KA and the two ladies in that room are absolutely wonderful! I barely view my chilfren via the security cameras becauase I am very comfortable with the care they receive. I also want to add that the owner and the staff are very flexible if your children have special needs (medication, food etc.).

Hello, My son and daughter currently attend KA of Collegeville. My son started when he was 18 months and my daughter started at 3 months. We had sickness issues with my daughter so I needed to change centers when she turned 10 months to see if it was my daughter or the center. She attended COA for a year and the sickness issue was definitely my daughter. She was sick just as often. We put her back to KA mainly for convenience of having both kids at one center. Both centers are good and care about the children but I feel that KA definitely puts out a personal touch and they are very flexibile with your needs. COA answers to corporate so they seem to not be as flexible. KA feels like family to us. Since you are starting out in the infant room, you will love the kindness and loving care of Ms. Pat and Ms. Carol. They have been with KA for as long as I can remember. The year I was with COA, the turn over in the infant room and toddler room has been pretty high. Good luck with your decision!

Hello,
My 8 month baby boy has been at Kiddie Academy since he was 3 months old and my husband and I are so happy with the care he receives there. Our son really loves it as well and is definitely thriving there. Miss Pat and Miss Carole are the infant teachers and they are both absolutely wonderful. They are so sweet and they truly care about the babies and do an amazing job. We feel very fortunate to have found such a great center. It is a relief to not have to worry about our baby while we are apart from him because we know he is in such good hands. Miss Jen is the owner and she is so nice and extremely personable, helpful, and very fair. She really goes out of her way to make KA a special place to be and, as a relatively new owner, she is always working toward making improvements. All of the staff there are so kind and helpful as well. I really can't say enough nice things about everyone that works there. It's also a great perk to be able to check in on the WebCam throughout the day when we miss him and to see what he's up to and get a glimpse of how he's spending his day. I hope this helps and hope to see you around at KA. Best of luck with your decision.

@ Anne - My son has gone there for over a year and my daughter will be going soon. I have no complaints. They recently got a new director which is really turning the place around.

Stay away from COA in Trappe. A lot of weird political bs going on there. Teachers telling me that the assnt director and director will sit there and talk bad about parents. Never seen a place where teachers come and go. Tells me they donít know how to treat their teachers so imagine how they are treating your kids. My son is in there now and I am not happy. They are not flexible and their communication is awful. I put in a vacation request over xmas and like everyone else does not memorize the handbook but that you rely on the director to communicate with you on if your vacation is approved or not. Well weeks prior to vacation I put in a request and was never told by ANYONE that my vacation wasnít approved. I handed the form to the assnt director and spoke with the director a week prior to the vacation and I was never told it wasnít approved. I didnít think anything of it I had taken on week with my son in Aug but you only get one week.. I thought you get three weeks but instead of calling me or even letting me know they didnít tell me. I showed up one day after vacation to drop him off and had a 600.00 bill. CRAZY isnít it? Worst part is when talking to the corporate people they were not willing to help about the vacation at all. They advertise that they provide meals but its all junk. Caned food.. veggies. Loaded in salt and crap. THEY will rip you off any chance you can get. Most of the kids my son started childcare with are no longer there. Most have left and moved to other childcare centers. I will be doing the same thing. Avoid this situation and stay away from here!!!!

Have you checked out Kiddie Academy in Collegeville?
My son attends there and we love it.
The director is very sweet and either her and the owner are always available if we have any questions. I believe we are allowed 3 weeks of vacation a year.
They serve meals as well. And not all out of a can. I know they serve fresh fruits and salads throughout the month.
I have no complaints - you should give them a call.

I am another Kiddie Academy Mom! My 3yo daughter has been there about 8 mos and just loves it! She hates leaving and is bummed out the days she doesn't go! lol Emily in the office is very sweet and knows what's going on in each classroom. Jen, the newer owner is great! She is very kind and accommodating. Her family works there, her kids are always there... I looked at both. KA is very similar to CoA, gives you free access to the security cameras (unlike the extra $20/mo CoA wants), they feed the kids, allergy sensitive, nice & communicative teachers, there's an indoor play town for the kids when its cold/bad weather (smaller than CoA's but still nice), its clean... They have events for the kids throughout the year and there are family events too. That's nice bc its hard to socialize with the parents at preschools and you get to meet the parents and kids your kids are spending so much time with. And its hundreds of dollars a month LESS than CoA. We are very happy with Kiddie Academy and would recommend it to anyone.

Hi my son assist to COA and I would agree on telling u to stay away from COA. They dont care of ur child at all. And when u try talking to them about an issue they get all defensive. He is starting kiddie academy now.
