Instead of building a pipeline from Alberta Canada to Houston Texas, why not build a couple of oil refineries near the Pacific coast of Canada or United States? Better yet, The Great Lakes. They have open water ports that could handle tanker and cargo ships.
The refineries in the U.S. keep saying they are at capacity already. Everytime a hurricane blows through the Gulf of Mexico they shut down and are off-line which (they) say makes prices go up. I know they get some nasty weather on the Great Lakes but nothing to compare with Hurricane Season. The pipeline would create a few thousand temp. jobs where a refinery would create a few thousand temp. construction jos and a few thousand permanent jobs.
