So, how is this coming along, Shawn? I haven't seen you post here in a while.
Maybe with a new Mayor for Phenix City some changes will come along?

Living over here in Georgia currently (but always subject to change, as I do love Old Alabama) I don't know that much about Mayor Lowe.

I did see a post with a link to an interview with him just this morning, which I'll post it it's easily located...

I live in Smiths Station, I have direct tv, but I have to pay ctvea for basic cable in order to get internet service out here. That's $104.00 a month just to have internet. Charter can't get here fast enough. I agree, a little competition is good for everyone.

I have a couple of friends in Ladonia who are having the same complaints just today... that does sound pretty lousy.

I got away from ctvea years ago got faster DSL and 25% cheaper. I also got sattelite tv, if you want HD it is your only option imo. nd I pay less and get more. I really don't understand why they don't have the competition. Ideas really like to see them go under, when I had them they managed to scramble up the bills and overcharged me several times is sign any petition against them, their services aren't worthy of the wire it is transmitted on "literally" it is a sad waste of wire rhe copper is worth more than the content transmitted on it.

Any time Will, but there really was no need to spam your horribad song. Once was enough to last a lifetime.
You know I always thought Phenix city was much like the movie walking tall, One man against the corruption. You could be that man Will. Phenix city's Dark Knight minus the cool gadgets and bat mobile. Just a fat guy in a suit.

Actually, there's a connection between the old Phenix City and the town depicted in Walking Tall.

Look it up!

Second month in a row with increase on my CTVEA cable bill. The first it went from 106.00 to 147.00, I contacted them and they said it was because the special I was under ended, no problem, then this month the online bill says 174.00, not acceptable, to have a little over 60% increase in two months. Contacted them again and they said will it is because the last bill did not include a whole month, and if I wanted to I could reduce my bill by dropping my phone, don't want too, or lowering my cable to basic, don't want too. I want at least one more cable company so there is some competition. Please city council help out your cizens of Phenix City.

Because being able to see the content on YouTube necessarily means that one does not need to support CTVEA's monopoly to view the content you mentioned. Why should we pay $100 per month to these crooks when we can get access to the content over YouTube? Doesn't make much sense, does it? I wouldn't watch that nonsense if they paid me to do so, though.

Anti Trust / Coercive Monopoly. I smell a class action lawsuit vs Phenix City/CTVEA. If it can be proved that Phenix City has road locked other outlets in lieu of CTVEA and some previous back-assward agreement, it's grounds for Anti-Trust pure and simple. It's in violation of your rights as consumers and citizens.

Being a television addict makes no sense to me either, since I had cable turned off at my house in 2009 and haven't watched television since.

EFF YOU ROY GREENE! and your garbage ass cable company.....every time it goes out I'm calling your repair line and writing ANOTHER BBB complaint.
If you're going to make a serious complaint, then at least make it to the right people.... The BBB is a joke, the only power they hold is the power of suggestion. If you want to actually make a change in this city, then STOP SUBSCRIBING TO ANY OF THE CTVEA SERVICES! I can't believe I am even suggesting this, I just moved here from Columbus, GA and I am shocked at the apathy and awareness of the citizens here. In no way am I claiming Columbus is any better, they have their own problems, but good lord... how long must the people here complain before they ACT. I've had CTVEA for my ISP now for less than a month and I've already cancelled it, if their data allotment wasn't outrageous enough consider their throttle caps. If you are to download over 230mbs in 10 minutes on the 6Mbps package, they will throttle your bandwidth down to 1Mbps for 90 minutes... if you do the math, that's less than ONE standard definition TV show streamed from Netflix. Their is no functionality with this service without accruing overage charges on a already overpriced service.

http://ctvea.net/slider_corporate.html <--- READ THE TERMS OF USE

This is something only the south could suffer from; unless we as a community unite and speak up in the appropriate forums, nothing will ever change. The service here is unacceptable on so many levels, overpriced, under-serviced, unreliable, and somehow last super bowl (in 2014) I was here watching the game and the signal cut out for half the game. They even screw up the most important sports game on television, which is trivial considering this service is sub-par on a daily basis. Their business model is built on deceit, they prey on the helpless, and the same ass hat owns every media outlet in the city?!?! Is this city asleep? Does no one stay here longer than a few months? This makes no sense, any other city in the country would of taken back their rights yet everyone is pacified by the notion of a possible comcast arrival... open your eyes Phenix City, CTVEA is not going anywhere unless we tell them WE DO NOT WANT THEIR SERVICE, we can't splinter off and cope with mediocre DSL. We must stay strong and DEMAND the same services and prices offered less than a few miles away, across the river.

"The FTC is a bipartisan federal agency with a unique dual mission to protect consumers and promote competition." -http://www.ftc.gov/about-ftc/ what-we-do

Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your neighbor who pays for satellite that there is a better way out there! We just have to act on it and ACT now!

ALSO, don't just stop with the Federal Trade Commission... The Federal Communication Commission can do just as much to end this monopoly on broadband cable. File a complaint with the FCC here ----------> http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
