I saw the post that Sharon Dotson posted about her sister Wanda Hurley, bragging about how good of a person she is and I beg to differ. I went through alot of hell when I was at Phelps Elementary and everytime something would happened right in front of a teachers face they would act like you were stupid.
When I was in Wandas class they had the primary block and the Second graders were put in the same class as the 3rd.I had a rumor started was threatened to be beaten up by the half the 2nd and 3rd grade and you know what good ol Wanda did ? She had me apologize to them for saying something that I didnt. It is because of people like her that Kids are going haywire these days. Back in my day kids put up with alot of flack and these days they are retaliating with unnessacery violence ! Parents do not see what goes on behind closed and 17 years after I saw it I dont mind to tell them. That woman made my life misearble.

She never helped me out with things that she should and when it came time to do my work I didnt have clue as to what to do and sent me acted like I was retarded. Thank God for people like Angie Lester because Kids are much safer these days

I, too, think Angie Lester is a wonderful principal; and whe was a wonderful teacher, as well. I also must say that Wanda Hurley was a good teacher...during the years of which you speak. When my daughter was in her room in 4th grade, she was an excellent teacher. My daughter learned so much about science and math from Mrs. Hurley. Mrs. Hurley also did enrichment activities with her students. I remember a book characters activity in which my child participated. Children who are exposed to these tpes of activities remember the characters and the literary content far longer than those who simple read a story. Wanda was a caring teacher. She was well-loved by my child, and I have a great deal of respect for her. I can honestly say she was one of my child's BEST teacher in elementary school, along with Bonnie Haris and Glenetta Dotson. Everyone's experiences are not the same, but my child's expeerience with Wanda was positive...and my experience as a parent with a child in her room was also a positive one.

i think Mrs. Hurley is a wonderful person i don't know why anyone wouldn't like her, she is plain spoken and won't put up with crap, alot of people got upset with her because she caught the jainitor and Deana kissing behind the old jim before and she told his wife about it. i think she is a nice person...
