I dont know about closing but i do know it looks nasty. I drove by there a few days ago and it looked so run down. We will not give him any business because of the way he had done the community of Freeburn. I will not stop in the phelps store and dare any of my family to. He will not get any of my time or money.

I don't blame him for closing freeburn. He was always in the hole down there because his workers were robbing him blind.
shhh

yea he is out telling his vendors that his works were robbing him blind, do you think he has proof of this. i doubt it. if this is true then why did he give these workers a pitty story the night he shut it down saying they were broke. dont be to proud to admit it hunny, your just like the rest of us. dont blame your mistakes on those girls it might come back to bite you right in that big ol` butt of yours..hehe

Everything looks nasty right now. It's called the snow and mud. Not a lot that can be done about it. And exactly how was the community of Freeburn done wrong? Is the closing (in the near future) of Hurley's Market doing them wrong? If a store is losing money, something had to be done. And as far as what is being told to vendors, are you a vendor? If not, can you prove they were told that? And oh, by the way, people were fired for stealing. And as far as closing the Phelps store, don't think that's gonna happen. I heard the rent at Freeburn was too high. Wonder why no one else has gone in there? Probably because by the time the rent is paid, there's not a lot of margin left for those who want to help themselves to a free lunch.

how could the rent be so high that jomart has been there for so long, what went wrong is someone not knowing how to run the place it takes a lot of work to run that place and thats why they have managers maybe they should of had a good manager and business person.
don;t blame it on people stealing if people were stealing and thats what cameras are for or were they too cheap to have those.
things happened there exactly as people said i could even tell it was going down hill because the service was not there like it used to be and could not get hot food it was almost nada when it came to that.

I hear Bert is trying to find another renter. Why don't you use all that good business sense you must have and open it back up.

Well at least i have taken some college and especially some in business, unlike the individuals that ran that just locals thought they could run a store. it takes more than an individual saying I can run a place its not that simple, for one thing I know i could of done a better job running it. Its just that its not my style but any job I take on I do it to my utmost and at least put effort into making it the best it can be not just for myself but for the citizens that would come there.
the way i see it people want to run a place just for the money, maybe they should of concentrated on service.

I can tell by your run on sentences and punctuation that you are a well educated person. So please put your brain to work and serve the people in Freeburn by opening the store back up. It's not often that someone has the brains and know how that you do. You are cheating the community by not restoring that store to glory.

Only thing one needs to do at that jo mart is open the doors and wash and clean it. doesn;t take someone with an education to do that. seems to me the owners couldn;t even keep the simple things going or it would not have closed its doors. the previous owners kept that place open for decades and as soon as this guy takes over goes sliding down hill.
By the way you are the realtor here why don;t you appraise that place and tell me what its worth.

Wonder why the previous owners got rid of it? I've never known them to walk away from money. I bet they saw the handwriting on the wall. Just thinking, that may be possible. Look around at any business from Phelps to Pikeville. It's hard to find anybody who wants to work. Checks are too easy to draw.

Listen, We are lucky to have Jo-Mart in the area. If you have a problem with Steve--go to Jacky's or DQ! You have a choice, but I do know this Steve and Rita have been good to donate to many things when they really should have said no. Rita is one of the nicest people in this whole community and out of respect for her alone, everyone should drop this. Every time a business closes, part of our community dies.

The people might be nice but thats not the subject here. yes you are right when a store goes down the town does suffer. We are just saying it does take a lot of work to run a business and hopefully one day someone will start it up again. Theres plenty of opportunity to have a good business there if its done right.

maybe if steve hired people that know how to work and want to work freeburn would still be open steve and only steve brought that store to its knees
