i live in Martin County in Eastern Kentucky. We are home to some of the oldest and largest (at that time)coal mining operations in the Southeastern Coalfields. My father worked 28 years underground before his lungs gave out. I, as well as my brother are unemployed underground coal miners thanks to politicians thinking that they are gonna keep the lights on with a windmill. I inherited a decent collection of late 70's early 80's mining stickers and have enjoyed building my collection since i was a kid. if anyone is interested in buying/selling/trading of coal mining stickers please shoot me an email at jt_h1984@yahoo.com

I have somewhere near 1000 stickers that I collected during the 70s and 80s while I worked for several mine manufacturing companies. Hugh collection of National Mine Service sticker, many duplicates that can be trated. Some complete collector editions made just for collecting. I have 2 photo albums as well as a shoe box full. Does anyone know what they might be worth?

If you have a lot of joy stickers they are worth quite a bit on ebay.. Most of the rest of them are sold on ebay as groups, although some sets go pretty high, really depends on what some people are looking for. someone offered me 50 dollars for one sticker not long ago but i turned it down because it was the place my dad worked, and is no longer in business. You can go scan ebay, it will give you a better ide of what yours might be worth. If you want to trade any, let me know!!

i'm a child of the 80s and have several sticker collections! my dad always said that the joy stickers would be worth something! i need to dig them out of storage and see if i have any valuable ones. what about the "baby joy" stickers??? are they worth big bucks? i think i might even have entire sets of joy equipment stickers...

the irony of my situation is that i now work for a caterpillar company!!!!

The baby joy stickers go for as much as ten dollars apiece on ebay! Most of the rest of the joy stickers go as high as five dollars each or some of the older ones go for more than that

I have thousands of very rare mine stickers, I have stickers older than dirt going back into the 50's. I have lots of those metal pieces they used to put on equipment and such that identified the mine.

I have these things from famous mines that either had big accidents... or just famous mines like island creek. If anyone would like to look at them or purchase any I can let them go undervalue email andrew@libertybb.com

I have thousands of mine and mine related stickers, plus some other that are not mine related. I looked at some of them today I had about 20 of the small joy stickers. as well as most if not all of the joy ones from the eightys, even a green one. I used to trade with a lady that worked for joy at that time. If anyone would like to see them email me at papaone@mikrotec.com. i would sell them all as a group.

5 grand would get everything, and retail value would be about 12 grand. I'd even throw in the old lamps, old lamp batteries (120v DC dry cells by burgess that still work), the boss white hard hats, and even the mini joy sticker collection. Those little things go for 30-40 bucks a piece and I have hundreds.

I would however like to keep one of each multiple sticker just for remembrance of my grandfather. The belt buckles from wolf creek colliers I could let one or two go, but the case XX ss boot knife that has his name engraved on it.. have to keep that besides its got his name on it ppl wouldn't want it.

grandpa never had a son, my benefit lol I was like the son he didn't have. He gave me all this stuff and its great and I am going to keep much of it, however the volume is HUGE and I have kids I could put towards their college education from this.

But I want to sell it to a collector someone that will either take good care of them or make sure they are placed well. My grandpa started this collection in the late 40's.

BTW there are also mine manuals and books. I have a restricted navy manual for a 1942 radio, lots of other books. Grandpa was a mine electrician, machinist. Joy copied some of his modifications to their cutting machines, he was good and he got lots of stuff from joy and the company.

Like yourself, I also worked for CAT. a few years back. In the 4 years i worked for them i couldn't get a hat, jacket, or even a sticker. After leaving the company i bought a pair of CAT hiking boots last month. I wrote the main CAT. headquarters for a sticker, You believe after helping them make all that money in 4 years they still won't give out a sticker.{shaking my head} Lately i have been writing coal companies both here in the U.S.,Canada, Australia and Scotland and have been recieving stickers. Its expensive to mail letters out of country but you are almost guaranteed stickers from them. Alot of them, i e-mailed them if possible. I have also been collecting stickers since the day i worked in the mining industry in the 80's. I have U.S.Steel stickers that have the limited number stamped on one of them in the set. U.S.Steel wire rope brand, Praying coal miner, Joy, Lee Norse miner,Jeffrey Miner and many other stickers as i'm sure most on here have. I don't sell my stickers because like most i just love the hobby of collecting them. I also have 2 Wolf mine gas- check lanterns one of which is the very first one stamped and made by the wolf company as a prototype for U.S.Steel coal mines in Gary, WV...I keep all this for my son to remember where his family roots came from.

my co-workers complain about not getting hats, jackets, etc. as well. personally, i would like to have some actual "sick days" to use. we have to use vacation days (but only if approved!) should we need to call off work.

i don't think i've actually seen a CAT sticker in the 7 years i've worked here. do the USA plants still have them made? i don't think the corporate office in peoria has them printed.

The main CAT. office told me to check with dealers that they may have some. Other than that i don't see any way of getting any from CAT. Yeah i know what ya mean about time off, they acted like you were asking for their dieing breath if you took a day off for just business. Well i did manage to get a CAT. hat thru a friend who still works at CAT...he knew the salesman.

Cat doesn't do much on stickers. Its now like your mining and steel industry where the workers live on decorating their hard hats.

But they should, sounds like they are pinching pennies... but maybe thats because you are making so much money LOL, nah the coal miners make lots of money and they also get lots of stuff.
