Never seen our town as muddy and dirty in all my years. I know the miner's need to work but this is uncalled for. Maybe when one of these coal companies get sued they'll make sure to clean the roads.

What a comment to say about our miners who are losing their homes and families being uprooted to re locate. Must be a welfare receiptent for sure. I can handle a little mud if children dont lose their homes. You need to move as you are a discrace to this community in my opinion. My husband provided for us for 25 years from the mines and now my son depends on it as well as my grandchildren.

Just because people depend on Mining for a living, doesn't mean the Coal Co. should turn a town into a mud hole.Phelps is a disgrace and you people living there should demand that it is cleaned up.Call the KSP or DNR and demand that they do their job.It is against the Law to drag all that mud onto the Highway.

Exactly, wonder how the poster would feel if someone slid across the double yellow line and hit one of her family members (heaven forbid) and hurt or killed them? Wonder if it would still be ok because it was for coal. I am for coal also and I do work everyday but I deserve a road that doesn't look like a coal haul road. If it causes me to wreck, I will get 50 cents a ton for everything they mine. Mark her down.

COAL COAL COAL, bitch bitch bitch. Seems to be all y'all do.! Blame all the mud on the coal trucks if you want, but I go to Phelps frequently and I've seen those muddy ass driveways and yards, so I dont believe ALL the mud comes from Coal trucks or coal miners. I've seen many of ya walk through muddy driveways to get to your car, not once caring how much mud you drag with you...so Then by the time you get to the store or where ever it is you're goin you've drug mud of your tired alll down the road, then you walk in and drag it in off your shoes...and what about the FOURWHEELERS?! YOu take em in the hills, and then drive around on the road on them, thus further transferring MORE mud..

i think you're geting my point here, so QUIT blaming coal for every-goddamn-thing.! I'm with "wtf", y'all just wanna bitch!

its winter people
we are gonna have mud
i grew up on a dirt road where coal trucks ran daily and dont remember anyone ever dying or getting sick because they got a little mud on their shoes or truck tires
people are just forgetting their roots
you all forget that if not for coal, phelps would not even exist as a community
if not for the few mines left operating over there and the men working that place would probably fall off the map
just be glad a few hard working men still exist and still want to work and want to contribute to society and not out stealing
summer will be here soon enough and maybe the mud wont be so bad, if it is a bad as you say then call the main company and demand they send sweepers to clean it up

You said you visit frequently, well you need to keep your coal truck in the county you are from. leave the jobs in our area alone .thats why you all dont care to track mud out on the roads. As for the owner of your company he needs to buy gravel and put on the dirt roads, before you come onto the highway.

See that is what is wrong with this community now. If " I wreck I will get 50 cents a ton , mark her down". If you wreck you dont have your vehicle under control do you. Maybe going to fast for road conditions. Look it up in your drivers manual -- Keep vehicle at a safe speed for road conditions. You are just sorry and dont want to work and looking for a lawsuit . Cause you said that you would sue. That is all young people and some old people are worried about is seeing a lawyer. If they had to work for it like the rest of us life would mean more to you.

I remember there was a oil tanker that overturned on a interstate once and caused lots of accidents and even after the cleanup that area was still slick when it rained !!!! Who's responsible??? The driver or the road conditions???Black ice is a unseen threat is a driver responsible for hitting black ice?? No!!! Roads should be safely maintained!!!!! Where do you think your tax $$$$are going?????State roads is called that for a reason !!!! There was a couple killed in Millard. By a coal truck due to road conditions there was a curve that was supposed to had been fixed back in the 80s due to so many accidents !!!!! The 18 wheeler truck was on the wrong side to go around the curve.!!!and BAM!!!!! 2 people's lives gone !!!! What's it gonna take for someone to say these hazardous roads need. Work now!!!!

we know according to "WOW" that it wouldn't be the coal companies fault because if they got out and washed the road off they would have to lay people off right? BuIIshiI. McCoy Elkhorn at Bevins Branch has their outfit PAVED and there hardly any mud there ever. Phelps looks like a shltty hog pen right now. Wait till one of the school buses gets hit and then WOW can tell us how it is ok since it was supporting coal. Good Lord!

The coal companies are making a fortune !!!!! They get the coal for almost nothing. Then pay their workers the least they can and. Cut corners on safety!!! The. Coal companies should clean this mess up!!!!!Please everyone that's having to travel these roads use caution!!!! And watch for other drivers. They may not know. How slick this crap is and may hit you accidentally!!!! Lets call MSHA or someone if they don't hurry and fix this problem!!!!
