So let me get this straight - the driver was driving recklessly and crashes the car, seriously injuring his friend. Since the article states the victim was 'partially ejected', I am guessing that the driver had to finish extracting his friend from the car, leaving him on the side of the road to die while he drove off without even contacting authorities. Some 'friend'. It's sad to think that there are people out there with absolutely no conscience or sense of morality. Too bad the driver wasn't the one killed.

That's a nice piece of analytical thinking, and unless the story has factual errors (always a risk with this paper!), it's the only explanation consistent with the facts.

The article does contain factual errors. I know both young men and I stand behind the driver. Can you imagine what he must be going through? To have had the initial crash must be devastating, but to suffer this slander must be unbearable...
May the peace and love of our Savior surround these two grieving families...

What slander dimwit? The CHP reported he left the scene of the accident. Someone else took him to the hospital. No one called 911. The idiot driver has had 4 speeding tickets in the last year. If I were you, I wouldn't stand anywhere near him, especially if he is driving something. You have every right supporting your friends, just keep it to yourself when you're trying to blow smoke up everyone's butt by trying to convince us he was the salt of the Earth. He wasn't. He killed his friend, most likely by speeding again.

If there are factual errors in the story, WHAT ARE THEY? If your friend is being falsely accused of a deadly crime and conscienceless behavior, you owe it to him to set the record straight. That takes more than just saying "The story was wrong," or "It doesn't give all the facts." Both of these things are possible, especially when we're talking about stories that appear in this paper. So if you know something, step up and share it, and defend your friend's reputation.

We all know what we've read here. If you've got more information to share that casts things in a different light, please share it. Otherwise, welcome to America, and we're going to go back to exercising our freedom of speech about a matter of public interest: Did someone commit homicide and flee the scene of an accident?

If that's true, the CHP report and lack of a 911 call are pretty convincing evidence. The speeding tickets don't help his case either. Where did you get that, though?

I'd ask why the reporter didn't include that information, but that would be pointless...

Wouldn't have mattered. People like this drive on suspended licenses all the time. 4 speeding tickets in 8 months shows he has no respect for the law.

The VV daily press had a better article, where they actually included some information about the crash. The rest was taken from the county court web site.
