It is a shame the world we live in now.
Most teachers will not touch this subject for fear of being called a predator.
Today, all a kid has to do is make an accusation and even if proven false, that accused life is ruined.

A few years ago here in good old El Paso, a teacher was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student (male/male). The teacher was arrested, face plastered all over the news.
After nine months of coverage, he was acquitted. The kid made it up to get back at him for not allowing him on a field trip (or something like that) But the damage was done.

I don't blame a teacher that does not want to tread on the issue. It is just sad that teens have fewer choices with who to talk too.

The other problem is that depending on who they talk to will send them down a certain path.
Most clergy will tell the kid its wrong and a sin.
Many professionals will tell them its part of puberty and will eventually outgrow it or settle into who they are.
Peer counselor will tell them to follow their feelings...

Sometimes, the best we as adults can do is just listen to them and let them know that in time, they will know who they are and what path they want to take but either way, they will always be loved. Sad that many parents and clergy cant/wont say that.

It took five years for the accusations to even be made? It sounds like a case of the parent's needing to blame someone for their child being gay. Another life, maybe two, ruined by intolerance and bigotry.
