Below is a link to TCEQ information about water rates and appealing water rates.

http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/assets/public/leg...

I'm single and my water bill was $66 for 2000 gals in Jan. In Oct. my bill was $71. The rates are absolutely outrageous and will continue to rise until we organize and protest.

My other problem is that SW Water owns the wastewater pipeline in the front yard. In Aug. 2009, their side of the line broke and my neighbor's tree root grew toward the water, causing water to back up in my guest bathroom. Guess who had to pay the plumber $317 for the repair? It certainly wasn't SW Water company. Supposedly they repaired the broken pipe, but yesterday I had to pay the plumber $276 for the same basic problem in the same basic area.

How do we get organized to stop this robbery? My water usage for February 2011 (38 days total) was 1000 gallons and the bill was $82 -$5.70 for the water,$.81 for Tex Comm Environ Quality and the rest for water base $15, sewer base rate of $32.20 and $28.20 for sewer usage. These rates are outrageous.

My last bill was twice as high as usual and nothing has changed with the water usage in my house. I was advanging 5.5k per month and this month it went up to 27k and we had not done anything different inside or outside. I checked for leaks and found none and I don't have a pool. I called customer service and after waiting 20 minutes to talk to someone the lady said she would turn it over to reseach and have them call me. A week later I called them back and waited again to be connected and got the same person i had talked to before. When she connected me this time to reseach, the lady said she never got the information. After talking to her for a while she said it was nothing she could do but would turn it over to her supervisor who would contact me in 24-48 hours. Well i guess I don't need to say that never happen. I requested that the meter be changed out and was told new meters had just been installed at the end of last year and nothing was wrong with the meter without anyone even coming out to check it. I guess since there is no one else to get your water from, they really can careless if the meter is not reading correctly because in the end you are going to pay. I only wonder why Pflugerville Annexed our area and we are not getting water from the City of Pflugerville at lease if I had a problem i could do a one on one instead trying to solve it over the phone.

KVUE news just did a story on a neighborhood in Manor that had their rates quadrupled by southwest water co who is ultimately responsible for our rates as well. A neighborhood on lake Travis was profiled with the same situation a couple of weeks ago

This was the same response I recieved from SWW, "the meters are new, therfore we are right about the usage." I am fighting a 1000 dollar water bill delivered to me by SWW.

We have seriously thought of moving out of Pflugerville due to our ridiculous water bills. there are only two of us,and our bill averages 150.-175 a month! We were blaming this on the water softener, but it doesn't run but every few days. Only one of us is home all day,so there is no way that much water is being used! Even so,we paid less that half of this when we lived in Austin, and there were 5 of us there. I notice they charge you a base sewer rate, whether you use it or not. We need to unite as a community and protest these rates. I don't know enough about how to start a petition to get this going, but I will certainly send it out to my neighbors if one gets written up.

This is outrageous..the people who live in this part of the city..need to be talking to their State Representative..company is a monopoly..if you dont fight, they will keep getting away with it. I have been told by a friend that they charge 130.00 per month no matter what your useage is..this is communistic..we live in a free country. Water bills are NEVER that high.

I'm moving out of my house just to get out of this utility district! I've lived alone here for 2 years, and not only is my bill over $100 every month, I've received 3 bills for over $300 each stating my water consumption was 21k-24k gallons for the previous month!! WTF?!?! All the company says when I call to fight the bill is "you must have a water leak". BS!!! I DO NOT have a water leak!! I'm forced to pay the ransom they demand or they shut off your water w/no extensions! This is a total racket!!

Windermere is increasing its rate again. It seems the company merged with another company to rip off more.

Just read here:
http://swwc.com/monarch/rates/

What we can do is to contact or write our disagreement with TCEQ about increasing rate. Remember TCEQ always supports businesses. If 10% complain. TCEQ will request a hearing.
Please get up and contact TCEQ. The economy is bad, we should not be paying what we cannot afford.

What a mess just trying to set up service with this company.
From my past experiences with businesses - I have made two complaints online with the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, both companies I complained against were big names .... I received a quick response from both companies I complained against and was very pleased with the response. I believe I will go online today and submit a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission regarding this water company, time and energy wasted.

My water has is sometimes cloudy and now has smelled like chlorine for the past week. As far as the costs goes it is unbelievable how much it costs a month. Online I found a list of how much Windermere pays the city of Austin for the water and Windermere pays $7.33 per 1000 gallons the average price that Austin sells 1000 gallons to other cities is $3.20. The next highest is Manville Water Supply Corp. at $3.65 per 1000 gallons. HALF THE PRICE!

It's not right that we pay that much for crappy water.

So now, Monarch (windermere)cannot increase rate till July 2012 when it will try to make a new case.
For the last 3 months, people are getting bills every 21 days.

Please wake up.
Check your bill.
All of you had bill due date 11/10 (November 2011), later you had 12/03 (December 2011) and now your next bill is due again 12/24/2011.

So looking at last 4 bills: Billing Dates were on the 10th with the bill due on the 10th of the following month (ie. Billed 10/10/11 = due 11/10/11); Here's where it gets "Creative": Octobers bill was from 9/07/11- 9/30/11 (23 days); November SHOULD have had a bill date of 11/10/11 and Due 12/10/11 (this is NOT what happened...it has a bill date of 11/17/11 and DUE date of 12/03/11...so they added 7 days to the billing end & subtracted 7 from the due end; thereby effectively changing our due dates to be due a WEEK earlier (2nd or 3rd instead of the 10th)...so the 11/17/11 Bill was from 10/01/11 to 11/02/11 (32 days) and DUE 12/03/11. Next bill Dated 12/08/11 (5 days later & 2 days EARLIER than usual--10th to 10th) & NOW due 12/24/11 (3 WEEKS after Billed) was from 11/02/11 - 11/28/11 (25 days)...how much FUN is it to get two bills in ONE MONTH???? LEGAL???? What utility expects to get paid EVERY 3 Weeks? Apparently Windermere (Monarch) Does!!!! Too bad we don't have a CHOICE of Water Utility like we did Trash...This household would surely switch! This billing system appears to move from a payment in arrears to a payment in advance system???? HOLD THE PRESSES...RE-LOOKING AT NOVEMBER BILL 11/17/11...due 12/3/11 is ONLY 16 days (NOT 21!!!!) with the same for December 8, 2011 Bill being due December 24, 2011 (also 16 days later)...WOW and on top of this they want a price INCREASE!!!! We need to organize to STOP this!!!!

I raised the questions and few people contacted BBB, the water company slowed down its stealing (January and Feb). Half the people paid late fees because they were not expecting 2 bills in the same months. We have to stay vigilant.
I will post info as I am getting. Please share info with neighbors and friends.
