Incident in Brookfield Subdivision Swimming Pool

This weekend - it seemed like something happened in the swimming pool in the Brookfield Subdivision off of Dessau Road. I drove by early on Saturday, and there were tons of kids playing in the pool. Later in the afternoon...I drove by again, and no one was in the pool, but four police officers/sheriffs were standing in one spot by the pool, measuring the depth. It looked like something bad had happened. On Sunday, when I drove past early in the day, the pool was closed (no one was there), and then later a single family was standing in the same spot where the officers had been standing the day before, and an unmarked news truck was near the pool area. I haven't seen anything about it anywhere. Does anyone know what happened?

A four year old girl passed away on Saturday. All that I know is that she drowned.

I'm late on this reply, but my neighbor's daughter was at the pool the same day this happened, she didn't actually see the girl drown, but she seen the aunt & uncle pull the little girl out the water and witnessed EMS trying to revive her. My neighbor's daughter was with her friend and her parent's, they were only 9 and now they don't even want to go back to that pool. I emailed the HOA also, a few days after the incident occurred, to see what will be done about them not having a life guard at the pool at all times. I heard of another drowning too, last year, at the pool and there wasn't a lifeguard on duty either. The HOA was telling me they only have one guard on duty when school is out and since school was still in, then therefore no lifeguard was on duty. He couldn't comment on the details but what I got from his emails was that there was neglect because the girl had been under water for too long before her aunt & uncle noticed she was missing. I live in the subdivision also and have to go past the pool to get home, so I see everyday that there are way too many kids there to even be able to watch your children adequately. My 2 daughters wanted to go swimming that same day but when we passed I seen there was way too many kids and told them we'd go tomorrow. A few hours later, cops and EMS were around the pool and that's when my neighbor told me what happened. So sad. It was a horrible day. We were all crying.

Thank y'all. I ended up hearing from the HOA as well, but with no details, besides the fact that a small child drowned. This is so sad, and terrible. I wonder if they've considered putting a second pool in the neighborhood for safety reasons. I still haven't seen a lifeguard at the pool that I've noticed, and it's summer time.

The whole thing is really truly terrible.

The way the pool is now, parents almost need to be IN the pool with their children in order to watch them appropriately.

I've lived in this subdivision going on 3 yrs. and have never been to the pool. My children have told me a million times but it is extremly over crowded or constantly closed. The pool is extremly small for the community that lives here. I know a person that lives here in Pflugerville on the other side of 1825 and they have 2 large pools and a kiddie pool for smaller children with a lifeguard on duty. She only pays $20 a month for her HOA and we pay more and the pool and park are very small. I beleive that they should provide at least 2 more pools or a bigger one, and also a toddler one as well with round the clock supervision. They also need to do something about the vandalism. Our vehicles have been hit 4 times and I have had to repair out of pocket for this. Security needs to be enforced in order to protect ourselves and our children.

There is still an empty lot in the subdivision. The Hoq should thin about a small sprinkler park for small children or put the lot up for sale to someone that can build and manage one. I have a three year old and couldn believe what had happened. I have lived in the subdivision for five years and have never seen a life gaurd unless the call that security guad one. But they are distracted by their phone and computer to watch the children and are always under the cover which means they cant see the water.

This is not true. You may contact the Travis County Sherrif's office for information on the address. Urban legends seem to have snowballed.

Does anyone have contact information on the HOA so that I can contact them about the DUEs?

Intersection at Tudor House and Wells Branch. The traffic is terrible trying to get on Wells Branch and people are driving like they are the only one on the road. Has anyone heard if there may be a proposed red light being put up in the near future. This is a dangerous intersection and just maybe it would help if there are some rules put there since there is a lack of common sense and courtesy on the road.

People need to get in the pool with their children and pay closer attention this is not the HOA fault lots of pools are crowded stop sunbathing. And watch your kids
