He was a great principal and kept the school going for the good. Even though we all hate the no backpack rule it was for the good again. He did it to prevent drugs, drinks, and stuff we should just keep at home out of school. For dances he was against grinding. He was keeping the school clean. He did make some wrong turn to do something else. But I can tell you even from a teacher at west told me. He did NOT sleep with the secretary.... Thats all Faulse rumors. Its what high schoolers do. Everyone makes mistakes.. Look at it that way... Yes he should be showing us a good example but again. People make mistakes.. There was a streaker at West and ran in front of kids. Gues what it was called??? A mistake. They happen. Stop making faulse rumors. And calling a person a slut and saying someone slep with someone is just a stupid comment. Where did you here that from. A person and this person told me, he told me, she told me, everyone told me. Its called a faulse rumor that everyone makes everyday.

Thanks for the 1 and 1/2 years. You were the best on I had for a principal even though you made a mustake.

Mr. Towers was always polite, and a thoughtful, insightful leader. I wish him the best in his future.

Students, please be mindful of our great school as more is learned. I have worked at several institutions dedicated to education. None have impressed me as much as the students and staff at West.

This is a sad and unexpected loss. Do not resort to shock and rumor.

First of all, if that was in fact a staff at waukesha west who commented. You are the one who quoted on the students post. By doing so, you have given that person the attention she wanted. Secondly, you have no right to mention the who or what.
Mr. Towers was not well like because of his tactics and heavy handed idea of discipline. They are teenagers and teenagers make mistakes, which is exactly what the "staff" at Waukesh West is now asking the students to forgive and to give him privacy. This man went out of his way to apply the harshest penalties for minor offenses. With no compassion for the student or individual situation. Where was the compassion when students were issued disorderly conduct tickets and forced ago appear before a judge for a food fight that lasted less than 2 minutes? Why do you now expect the parents and students to forgive a grown man who has adult responsibilities who has clearly made some type of mistake?
Staff members should be outraged that a person who was the leader and role model for these teenagers made whatever poor decision that Mr. Towers made. He willingly and knowingly made a poor decision. Lets not focus on the problem lets focus on the fact that everyone makes mistakes even adults. Perhaps the next principal will learn from these mistakes and give the students a chance to be teenagers and issue appropriate disclipline as opposed as to throwing the book at them for every little infraction.

You are aware the food fight resulted in injury?

What none of us are aware of is why Mr. Towers resigned.

I personally believe the discipline policies you describe are fair and called for. I never want to see a student get in trouble. If they do something that merits a ticket, it is best they get a ticket and learn from the experience rather than believe minor mistakes carry no consequence. That belief, if fostered, encourages carelessness and escalating mistakes.

I am not the same staff member as the one that quoted the student that deleted their post. I'd encourage that person to remove their post as well.

I am aware.that there was an injury, there was also video footage of the person(s) involved. Consequences are important in life.....but the majority of the students who were involved did little to nothing. This esteemed principal chose to throw the book at every single student remotely involved and then encouraged other students to tell or inform the administration as to who was involved. How dare the "staff" now ask the students to not speculate as to why this same principal has abruptly resigned. If you want respect from parents and students then show some compassion for the "teenagers" who make poor decisions as teenagers and not poor decisions as adults like Mr. Towers has now done. As an adult I would think he would admit his mistake, own it and move on. By doing so would put an end to the speculation that you say is unnecessary. And allow the people who have wrongly been brought into this mess some vindication. But Mr. Towers silence has allowed these rumors to fester and continue all while an innocent person is dragged into it. Ironically it was Mr. Towers himself who encouraged students to acknowledge their mistakes and move on!

The district did say why he resigned.

For personal reasons.

They have also said there was nothing to comment on beyond that.

Speculation is one thing. Accusation without any sort of evidence is sometime else.

What "mistake" are you trying to invent? Maybe there was a personal tradagy. Maybe he won the lottery. I do not know and neither do you.

What I do know is that the kids that got in trouble for the food fight, well... They threw food.

I have not speculated nor accused. What I did say was that Mr. Towers, who advocated for responsible behavior, adhere to his own policy. The board of education chooses not to comment for legal reasons not for the good of the public. Who are you kidding? But I digress, let's focus on the school. Lets hope that Waukesha West can learn from the mistakes of the previous principal who chose to throw the book at a few kids "who threw food". Yea, issue a bunch of 14 year old kids a disorderly conduct ticket for $300 or worse give an 18 year old a ticket that will affect their ability to apply to a college.......Mr. Towers is not the person I would want my child to emulate. I would prefer a person who worked with a parent or a student to learn and grow from their mistake. Your comments just prove that teachers and staff think they are above the rules.

Faculty, staff, students and parents should work as a team to educate and guide students. Every teenager deserves a chance, even a second chance...and when the infraction is warranted a punishment. Mr. Towers mentality of no second chances is what parents and students rallied against. At know time did he offer unity at Waukesha West....he encouraged a dictator mentality.

Yet in what you advocate, you condemn a person not even knowing if they committed a first offense? Seems to me you are full of double standards and mad your kid got fined for throwing food... Or am I speculating?

You have spoken with a lot of sarcasm "esteemed principal" and anger towards staff, speaking out against a poster for using THE USER NAME of someone that tried to spread a rumor about one staff member, and called another a slut. You have speculated. You have accused. You want someone to be a good example for your kids? Start with yourself and drop quiet until something worth discussion is known. Just a polite suggestion.

Thank you for your advice, you are correct. And I, unlike others, will admit that I had assumed that there was an offense. I have tried quite diligently to decipher the Board of educations comments and have concluded that an offense has occurred. My conclusion and mine alone. It may be accurate, it may not. The important thing is that Mr. Towers, who was a person of authority and asked....no, demanded the parents support, as well as the board of educations support is no longer in a position of power. And one can only hope that the waukesha board of education will be more diligent in finding a replacement. Someone who as I have stated before is willing to guide students to make good decisions and to learn from their mistakes.

Your continued comments about a previous post are unnecessary and show your need to direct this conversation in a direction that is unwarranted and petty. Please refrain from giving them credence.

I am guessing the "Parent at waukesha west" poster is a parent of one of the DB kids that were caught for a food fight. Probably the same parent that will lock the police out of her house when she serves alcohol to her kids friends trying to be "the cool" parent. Get over yourself!

Let's be the example then and wait, try our best to guide the kids through this change, and hope for the best.

As an aside, that was the first time I mentioned that post. I give it NO credence or prominence to the matter at hand.

Goodnight.

As a seinor at west I feel there are so many stupid rumors going out right now. Like, he slep with the secretary, he was touching kids, he got in trouble with the law. I think parents and student should All stick with the original statement that he left for personal reasons.
Parents: Do you really believe your child when they come home and say he slept with the secretary? Like come on.
Students: do you think its fare to Mr. Towers that your speading and making rumors about him. Would you like someone starting that rumor with you? I bet not. For the students who call people sluts are wrong.
Stop spreading rumors and start acting like an Adult or young adult.
