The petroleum and chemical industries have been poisoning the environment and subsequently the residents of this area for years. The Bruin Lagoon was on the Superfund site as one of the most toxic places on Earth.Toxic waste has been dumped in abandoned coal mines (underground and strip mines),streams, rivers and in woods, on farm property, etc. with impunity. Poison has leached into ground water, soil and the air. Cancer is its many insidious forms has plagued the residents of this area (young, old and in between) for decades. In my opinion Indespec, Koppers and others are guilty of criminal acts and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. It won't help the countless numbers of people who have suffered and died or restore health to the environment but it would bring a small measure of justice.
