Confused

I am probably really reaching here, but I lived in Hopewell, VA when I was a baby in 1977. My biological father was killed in a tragic train accident in 1978 in Bristol, TN while going to look at a new house for us to live in. I have been searching for anything online- a news article or obituary from that time, but keep coming up empty handed. I thought that maybe since his residence was in Hopewell at the time that maybe there would be some archives or something I could find the information in. Every time I search, I come up with sites I have to pay just to search on, and I can't do that right now. Could anyone point me in the right direction as to where to look maybe? Any advice would be appreciated

Have you tried the local library's web site? www.arls.org . They did have an obituary index with archived newspaper issues from ages ago.

I need to call Ripley's Believe It Or Not. Someone actually responded with compassion. I thought I was the only one who thought this venue had potential to actually help people.
I commend "itssarah". Welcome to the right thing to do. Many of every reader should take heed of a real, genuine, positive response to a need.
How refreshing.

I may be mistaken but I think that Ancestry.com has a free trial period that might give you enough time to do a quick family tree. By doing that you will be able to find other family members who may have information for you. Check their website to see if they have a free trial offer. I hope that you will be able to find out information about your Dad.
