Several factors weigh in on car chases

Pennsylvania law requires police officers to consider the danger posed by starting a car chase, the severity of the crime the driver is suspected of committing and the weather and traffic conditions.

i feel that this chase was unwarrented, i also feel that the officers should of apprehended the first time they made contact with the defendant while he was removing the material covering his licence plate. once he did get away they should of not chased him onto a major artery and in the wrong direction. at the point where the chase started, noone knew he was a felon or knew what he was capable of, all they knew was that he was speeding and almost hit a car, once they had him stopped they allowed him to leave and cause the tragedy. this was all because of summary traffic offences, i would venture to guess someone got his licence plate number while he was removing the cover. they could of caught up with him at a later date. i cannot imagine how the victims family is feeling at this point, to lose a daughter and a baby on the way. this was really all over a vaccum cleaner and summary offences. ultimately messinger is to blame for all that happened and i know that the police could of never imagined the outcome of this chase, but the risk far outweighed the benefit of chasing this guy. there is really no good answer of how to decide to continue a chase and hope for the best. i pray for the victims family and hope they can somehow find peace knowing that thier daughter and loved one and child are in a wonderful place and awaiting them.

let's try this thinking, if the lowlife Pennsylvania State Police can muster a thought. radio waves move at the speed of light, helicopters move to the tune of millions of tax payers dollars a year. if the three of them can't apprehend this FBI's most wanted then we don't need either one. ever see a police chase that wasn't covered by a news helicopter? ever see the car out run the news copter? hell no! perhaps we should combine the news with law enforcement and fire the cops, at least it would be free!
back in the 60's the PSP killed a family the same way and if memory serves me correctly they banned car chases and had to use their radio, i don't what changed???
