Obama's brackets may have violated ethics rules banning NCAA betting at work
BY PAUL BEDARD | MARCH 19, 2014 AT 5:04 PM

President Obama's NCAA bracket, distributed by the White House, and his comments to ESPN that he would buy the first lady some shoes if he won, may have crossed strict ethics lines barring federal workers from doing their own brackets while on duty.

Officials in several federal offices have told Secrets that they have been ordered to stay off their work computers when drawing up their gambling brackets for the annual March Madness basketball tournaments.

A federal memo that different agencies have rewritten to fit their workforce, this one from the Air Force, reads:

...

The memo cites “Code of Federal Regulations, Title 5, Section 735.201,” which

prohibits civilian and military employees from “participating in any gambling activity,

including the operation of a gambling device, a lottery or pool, a game for money or property, or selling or purchasing a numbers slip or ticket while on government owned or leased property,

or while on government duty.”

On your dime: Federal officials fly first class, use govt jets for personal travel
by Phillip Swarts-The Washington Times | published on March 20, 2014

Federal officials have no qualms flying the friendly skies in style, regularly using executive jets and other planes in the governments fleet of 1,700 aircraft for everyday travel. But they often dont track how much such trips cost or the reasons why they skipped cheaper commercial flights in favor of firing up one of Uncle Sams aircraft.

And lawmakers in Congress usually charged with overseeing or reining in such expenditures have their own addiction to luxury travel with a growing tendency to fly first class.

Those findings by two separate watchdogs in Congress are the latest examples of a culture of entitlement that pervades federal spending, even in an era of supposed cutbacks and bulging budget deficits, critics warn.

Secrecy of personal trips taken at taxpayer expense only serves to create a distrust of the federal government, said Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee and a frequent advocate of greater transparency and austerity in government.

It's really not that hard.
"Today's veterans' employment report for 2013 from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows an encouraging drop in overall veterans' unemployment from 7 percent in 2012 to 6.6 percent. It included a significant reduction in 2013 unemployment for women veterans from 8.3 percent in 2012 to 6.9 percent in 2013 and a decrease from 9.9 percent to 9 percent for all Gulf War-era II veterans.

I always post about the Senate Repubs blocking any jobs Bills. Wasn't aware of the same thing in the House was being done by Repubs there also. I guess it does not matter which part of government they are in. The Repubs always screw over the American worker.
.
Congressman Tim Bishop led an effort to prevent the government from contracting with companies that outsource American jobs. During debate on the one-page Republican Budget Resolution, Bishop offered a motion to insert language barring "spending for any contract entered into by the United States Government with a company that has been determined by the Secretary of Labor to have offshored or outsourced American jobs overseas."

The motion failed 184-242 largely along party lines. Bishop vowed to continue pressing the issue as part of his fight to create American jobs

America is rich again if you add up all the money. But a familiar, unhappy tale is playing out as the nation recovers the household wealth lost from 2007 to 2012.

The total amount of household net worth hit a new record of $80.7 trillion at the end of 2013, according to the Federal Reserve. Thats certainly better than the grueling declines that occurred during the twin housing and stock-market busts. But a deeper look at the numbers shows that the kind of wealth held primarily by the affluent financial assets has soared beyond prior levels, while the most common middle-class asset home equity is still far below prior highs

Wise up, Pops.

What these liberals do is follow the talking points from MSNBC and other Lame Stream Talking heads, they don't think for one second.
Each time an Uber Rich person buys a new yacht, they pay tens of thousands in new taxes and fees and permits. Each time they buy a new property it's the same. Each time they Buy a new luxury car it's the same. Beyond that they pay "luxury taxes" on those luxurious things. They pay above and beyond, they create jobs, the money spent is like rain...it falls everywhere!

What you've posted here is a good example proving what I said is true. The reason the common middle class is still far below the prior highs is because they are picking up the slack that the wealthy have saddled them with. The wealthy are doing great while standing on the backs of the middle class and the middle class are carrying the load for everyone else. Think about that while you wise up.
