Please Shut It! You are NOT the Party of Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, or Dwight D. Eisenhower Anymore!
Dear Modern Republicans and Tea Party Members:
Please, do us all a favor and shut it! You are not the party of Lincoln, Roosevelt, or Eisenhower anymore! Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Eisenhower were great men who were members of a now defunct Republican Party. The GOP that exists today is no longer that party. By your standards, all of these men would be “liberals who are ruining our country!” Therefore, you are not allowed to commandeer their successes as belonging to your party. Also, moderate Republicans – the popular term is R.I.N.O. or “Republican In Name Only”- if you are reading, this article is not totally directed at you. However, please feel free to take your party back any time now.
Let’s start with Lincoln.
Lincoln was elected to office on November 6, 1860, after running on a anti-slavery, pro-equality, and pro-public jobs platform. The platform pledged not to extend slavery, and Lincoln himself called for prompt establishment of a daily mail service and a transcontinental railroad; notably, both “public” programs.
Next comes Roosevelt.
Roosevelt became President in 1901 following the assassination of President McKinley. Roosevelt was a progressive who disdained wealthy businessmen and was best known for his monopoly busting. His signature domestic program, the “Square Deal” was based on conserving natural resources, controlling corporations, and protecting consumers. The 1908 Republican Party Platform calls one of his greatest accomplishments his “prosecution of illegal trusts and monopolies.”
And finally, Eisenhower.
Eisenhower was elected President in 1952 and then re-elected in 1956. He was a moderate conservative who continued the New Deal (a social program enacted under FDR) and expanded Social Security. He also created the Interstate Highway System and launched the NASA space program.
The 1956 Republican Party Platform explicitly stated,“We are proud of and shall continue our far-reaching and sound advances in matters of basic human needs—expansion of social security—broadened coverage in unemployment insurance —improved housing—and better health protection for all our people. We are determined that our government remain warmly responsive to the urgent social and economic problems of our people.”
Today’s Republican party is anti-equality, anti-union, anti-minimum wage, anti-unemployment, anti-welfare, anti-woman, anti-United Nations, anti-healthcare, anti-immigration, and pro-corporation.
So, again, Republicans, please do us all a favor and stop calling yourselves the party of the above named men – you are nothing like them.
I think Will McAvoy described this perfectly in the TV show “The Newsroom,” when he said:
“I am not ashamed to say that I, however, am a Republican. And that brings us to tonight’s second story. I’m what the leaders of the Tea Party would call a RINO: Republican in Name Only. And that’s ironic because that’s exactly what I think about the leaders of the Tea Party. Because the most conservative Republicans today…aren’t Republicans.
Republicans believe in a prohibitive military. We believe in a common sense government. And that there are social programs enacted in the last half century that work but that there are way too many costing way too much, that don’t.
…They can call themselves Conservatives. And they can even call themselves Republicans. Though Republicans certainly shouldn’t.”
So the lesson you should take away from this is, when you call Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Eisenhower “great members of your party,” the truth is they were Republicans and they were arguably great men. But, they were not members of your party, so stop trying to say that they were!
You can read examples of each as well. Baggers to blame.

Speaking of that loon Sarah. hahaha
Sarah Palin Chimes in on Syria — Proves Her Ignorance and Prejudice Once Again
You knew this was coming. You just had to know Sarah Palin would offer her two cents about Syria and our possible military involvement in the country.
Well, the former Alaska Governor took to her Facebook page to express her opinion about the possibility that our military may soon become involved. She posted:
“So we’re bombing Syria because Syria is bombing Syria? And I’m the idiot?”
And at the top of her Facebook page she wrote the message,“LET ALLAH SORT IT OUT.”
Where to even begin. First,“let allah sort it out” displays the depths of her ignorance. Not to mention the comment itself is essentially prejudiced and a clear mocking of the Muslim religion.
But there’s nothing quite like a woman who claims to be a “good Christian” being so flippant about the horrific tragedies that have occurred in Syria the last 2+ years.
Then we have her,“So we’re bombing Syria because Syria is bombing Syria? And I’m the idiot?” comment.
Well let me answer her question: Yes, Sarah, I’m calling you the idiot.
If that is how simplistic you see war and what’s gone on in Syria with over 120,000 dead and strong evidence that chemical weapons were used, then yes—you’re a complete idiot if you break the whole situation down into a moronic joke like that.
But we shouldn’t ignore the irony of her previous support of George W. Bush, a man who got us involved in not one but two wars. One of which was a direct invasion of a country that wasn’t at war, wasn’t threatening to attack us and posed literally no threat to the United States.
She also goes on later to talk about how we have “no interest in Syria.” Oh, excuse me Sarah. I’m sorry if the use of chemical weapons to commit genocide and the deaths of over 120,000 people doesn’t give “Americans any interest.”
I wasn’t aware that the prerequisite for defending human rights and opposing genocide was that the United State must have a vested interest in the country.
But believe me, if there were a Republican in the White House right now, you can bet we’d suddenly have a “vested interest” in Syria. All you would be hearing from these people is the “threat to Israel” the civil war in Syria might pose.
The heart of Sarah Palin’s comments only goes to show just how ignorant this woman truly is. Her mind — seemingly incapable of understanding the complexities of war or what’s going on in Syria — and her obsession with attacking President Obama on anything he does are put on full display as her rampant jealousy oozes from deep within her. Because Obama is one thing she will never be…
President of the United States.
I'm calling her an "idiot" to, Love the last line.

Christian radio host: Military’s ‘homosexual takeover’ could doom attack on Syria
A Christian radio host warned on Monday that a strike on Syria could be doomed to fail because of a “homosexual takeover” of the U.S. military.
The American Family Association’s Sandy Rios told her listeners that she opposed an attack on Syria because it was “the nature” of Secretary of State John Kerry to lie about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons.
“There’s a second reason and that is military readiness,” she continued.“When I looked at those battleships going into the Mediterranean, supposedly getting ready for battle in Syria, I couldn’t help think about all the stories I’ve read about how women now are in the ranks of the Navy, getting pregnant at exponential numbers.”
“When I think about the folding in and the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and the homosexual takeover, really, of our military,” Rios added,“I’m not sure how effective those naval ships will be.”
Listen to the audio below from AFA’s Rios in the Morning, broadcast Sept. 3, 2013.
They just get crazier and crazier, don't they. haha

David Gregory Lets Rand Paul Pretend that War Has Been Officially Declared
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) invented a “unilateral” Syrian War, telling David Gregory on Meet the Press,“No president should unilaterally go to war without congressional authority… But absolutely if congress votes this down, we should not be involved in the Syrian war.”
There is no Syrian war right now, and neither David Gregory nor Rand Paul seem to understand the War Powers Resolution.
Paul ignored the War Powers Resolution and pretended that President Obama declared war on Syria. He did not, and yes, these little details matter. They matter a lot. The President proposed a short, limited engagement. The president does not need congressional approval for limited military interventions, but he chose to ask for it of his own volition.
The War Powers Resolution was a reaction to former Republican President Richard Nixon’s secret bombings on Cambodia. It has been interpreted by constitutional experts and previous presidents as giving the president broader authority to engage in limited military action overseas. However, it also limits executive power. Per the Act, the President has to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and the President only gets 60 days of limited engagement before he or she must declare war and get authorization for the use of force.
See? Declaring war is not the same thing as limited military engagement — per the law. This is not a matter of opinion. Plenty of us disagree with this, but that doesn’t change the law.
We should definitely be debating whether or not this has been abused (it has, in my opinion), but that debate shouldn’t grant us the right to make up declarations of war where they do not exist, especially before engagement has even commenced.
It’s a shame that Rand Paul is such a tool full of misguided presidential ambition, because we can always use more voices against war. But those voices need to be tethered to reality in order to effect change. Paul doesn’t get to make up wars just to justify his position and David Gregory never should have let him get away with this rather glaring moving of the goal post.
GRANDrand Grandstanding like the idiot does best. smh

Post Traumatic Bush Disorder: We See Lying War Mongers for Profit Everywhere
Seeing Bush everywhere is a sign of PTBD — Post Traumatic Bush Disorder.
Just because President Bush lied us into a war based on nonexistent WMD and his Vice President puppeteer’s former company Halliburton got filthy rich off of it does not mean that every person who claims we have a moral responsibility to take some kind of action in another country is also lying and is also hawking for the defense industry.
It’s not the same even from the outside. To wit:
No one is pretending the Syrians had something to do with the attack on 911 so we need to invade them with boots on the ground.
This is not a ruse to justify making big bucks for contracting companies the President and/or Vice President ran prior to taking office (see Republican former VP Dick Cheney). Dick Cheney got a 34 million dollar “signing bonus”(as Chris Matthews called it) from Halliburton for becoming the Vice President, as reported on his May 2001 disclosures.
Also, Cheney’s ties with Halliburton and subsidiary KBR did not end when he took office. If you can’t spy the glaring differences yet, try this and ask yourself if community organizing for the poor in Chicago carries the same suggestion of financial gains via war:
“Cheney was defense secretary the Pentagon chose Halliburton subsidiary Brown & Root to study the cost effectiveness of outsourcing some military operations to private contractors. Based on the results of the study, the Pentagon hired Brown & Root to implement an outsourcing plan. Cheney became Halliburton CEO in 1995.”
While the stock price of Raytheon, an international aerospace and defense company that makes the Tomahawk cruise missiles many speculate would be used in Syria, reached a 52-week high last week on the heels of the news of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s chemical attack on his own people, President Obama does not own Raytheon, has never run Raytheon, is not receiving major payouts from Raytheon. Currently, to much objection, Obama is the person making the decision regarding Syria.
It’s a bit of a stretch to implicate Obama in a conspiracy to make money for a company he has no stake in. Furthermore, Raytheon donated more money to Mitt Romney in 2012 than to Obama,$143,806 to $89,788, so it can’t be that. They gave just under that to Republican Scott Brown, who took in $84,350. Their PACs, which gave 4 times more than individuals, gave a majority to Republicans.
There are ten members of Congress who own Raytheon shares. Seven of them are Republicans and three are Democrats. Now that Obama has taken Syria to Congress, people who stand to profit from the matter will have a vote.

Corporate profit is not the motive for this Democratic President, but that doesn’t stop the false equivalencies to Bush nor the accusations that he’s hawking for big oil like Bush, as if there is no difference between an administration personally knee deep in oil interests and one that is not personally knee deep in them (there is no one in government who is not impacted by big oil interests, sadly — even if it’s just playing defense against negative ads secretly paid for by big oil).
George W. Bush ruined the presidency by earning your mistrust. However, applying that mistrust more strongly to this president than to Bush to make up for not applying it to Bush is a logic fail. Each situation is different, and Obama is not Bush.
Cynicism passes inaccurately and lazily for intelligence in us, the pundits, and the politicians.
Bush and his buddies took us to war for very cynical and personal reasons. They pretended Iraq had something to do with 911, using our emotions to blur the facts. Fox viewers still believe that Iraq was behind 911. Imagine their heads popping if they learned that their jingoistic party chant USA! Drill here, drill now! directly benefited Cheney’s former oil company, which opened what they called their “second headquarters” in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. USA!
Assuming Obama has the same character as Bush is like assuming all presidents are FDR. It’s illogical. The case can be made for it either way if you presume to know motives — but that’s a fallacy. It’s fear-based; a sign of past trauma informing the perception of unrelated events.
The facts are that the Bush administration and the media lied to us on an epic level about WMD for purely cynical reasons. Obama doesn’t own a Blackwater/Halliburton/KBR and neither does Biden. This is not Bush.
That does not imply or infer that we should do even limited strikes on Syria, but it does remove a fallacious and lazy argument against it.
If you have PTBD, look to the Teapubicans in the House of Representatives to remind yourself what Bush was really like, because it’s not community organizer and fighter for the poor President Obama, and you have to be quite a desperate hack to pretend it is.
Bet all those repuke BIG CORPS are drooling with anticipation of $$$$$$$$$$

White Supremacist Felon Caught Amassing Weapons Arsenal, Minority Hit List
No matter where you stand on the gun control spectrum, sane and reasonable people should agree that a felon who served 13 years in prison for manslaughter for the shooting death of one man and the felonious injury of two more with his 9 mm semiautomatic pistol should not be able to amass an arsenal of 18 guns and 45,000 bullets. He also was in possession of bullet-proof body armor and had a list of Jewish and African-American leaders in the Detroit area.
Meet Richard Schmidt from Toledo, Ohio, proprietor of Spindletop Sport Zone, a sports memorabilia shop located in Bowling Green, Ohio. Apparently, Mr. Schmidt was selling inferior, counterfeited sports jerseys, ball caps, purses, etc. that he imported from China. The fake NFL items included jerseys with misspelled players’ names and overall poor quality craftsmanship and attracted the attention of federal agents, who made several purchases at his store and then executed warrants at his business, home and three vehicles.
Way to go FEDS, round those nuts up. Clear example of why we need stricter gun laws. He was a disaster waiting to happen. Bet he is a teabagger too.
