this is what happens when you hire uneducated officers. use to be that you needed a degree in criminology or a degree of equal value to even apply to the state police. now all u have to do is prove your strength. those who have had an education are taught how to deal with problems in a civil and just manner. I have written many letters to politicians on this matter. maybe more letters from you will get it done. instead of wasting your time on here, be pro-active and write to someone who can make a difference.
I did just that! I was arrested for it, they took everything I had for it and ruined the lives of my family and children! I made ONE report! I am forever marked now. I get pulled over on average once a month. No, I don't speed. I was pulled over once because my tail light was cracked, not broken! I was shoved face first into my hood and had my car ram sacked and my purse dumped out. The officer claimed he was looking for drugs. I have never done any drugs in my life! I have never gotten into trouble before, not even detention when I was in school! My son was two at the time and in the back seat watching all of this. They had to let me go, but not before writing me a ticket for the tail light. That is what happens here when they think you have complained about them to any superior. If you are stuck here in this jobless rut as I am, Keep your mouth shut and let the corruption go on. For the sake of everyone you care about. Think about it. I am a single mother. I only weigh about a hundred and ten pounds. What kind of a threat do I pose to be treated this way?

I say the police need to b aggresive in a town like this and child protective services should be even more so!!!!!! It's sad that in such a small town Children are being abused and neglected and nothing is done to PROTECT them until there is almost irreversible damage done to them! Pay attention folks theese babies are our future...
Sorry, but in my opinion... CPS does quite enough for all the children they can! It's up to those that know its happening to bring it to light! SO if you know all those babies our there need help! Report their parents! Nothing can be done if no one knows what is happening. Quit keeping your mouth shut and watching it happen!

Oh I am a mandated reporter and even if I wasn't I would still report it!! I'm speaking of when valid reports are made and no follow up or anything is done! They call these people and say oh a report has been made that u have a nasty house and ur children are livin in filth I will be over sumtime next week to check it out..... Or ur child has made it clear to us that he/she is bein neglected and emotionally abused let us make u two months worth of counseling appts and give u gas to get there and when u don't go well that's ok too you can have ur helpless babies back!!!

Does anyone know if all the gossip about Indian Trails in Peru is for real? I am looking for a good camp ground for next year. Got any suggestions?

Thanking God for the many police officers who live and work in Peru and surrounding areas & towns. I have nothing to hide. I obey the law, so I am not concerned about how aggressive they MAY become. I am thankful when I see them sitting around. This means they have been doing their duty. Keeping peace. Thank you Peru Police Officers!

.
You may want to Google "Seven Pillars" on Frances Slicing Trail. I know Indians camp in TP's there during warmer months. Camping available at Mississinewa very near by.

I lived in Peru for many years and have never seen a town where so few people have so much control over everyone else. It seems like if you were a police officer you could get away with anything you wanted. Politicians in the town were the most unethical, crooked people I'd ever seen. The judges (depending on who you were) would give you a slap on the wrist for a first-time offense, where as if you weren't part of their clique you were thrown into the jail. I'll place odds that most of those that are in positions of authority there now were probably some of the biggest trouble makers when they were growing up and were probably given a break or two by the officers in the town, now I'm not saying let a child molester or drug dealer off, but if someone the age of 19 is drinking, do they really need to have their life ruined by being charged with minor in consumption. If they are old enough to defend the Constitution serving in the military, give them a break, a charge like that could keep them from going into the military. Is there anyone out there that can honestly say that as a minor, they have never had a drink. Now that being said, if it is something that is a continuous problem then it needs to be addressed. The politicians, just how much do they have vested in the City of Peru, or are they padding their pockets by having business leave Peru and going on junkets to other places to try and get business to come to the town (all on the taxpayers dime). Like I said, I "use to live in Peru", and am so glad that I left, that even if I had to travel west I would make sure that I never came close to the town again.

We have some good officers in Peru, but we have some that I would'nt pee on their boots if they were on fire, but you have that anywhere. They hate being reported to superiors but who dont. Why do we have 6 detectives in town this size. All you ever hear from a patrolman is "I"ll take a report and turn it over to the detectives" but you never hear from theese law enforcement icons. Most of them don't know a crime if it was tatooed on their butts unless it was drugs or seatbelt tickets. From my experiences with most of these guys if I have a problem please don't come I will take care of it myself. I have a clean record but I do know some people that are needlessly harrassed and picked on

The lack of thought on the behalf of the officers who acted out their abuse on the elderly man at Millers is infuriating. The lack of comment on the part of the Mayor is infuriating. The Mayor LITERALLY tried to hush the family from speaking out telling the residence of Peru to NOT believe what the family was saying on social medias! His speech did not mention ANY of the facts; instead brushed it off and says an investigation is pending. Several people need to be under the publics scrutiny right now. Miller's Merry Manor (owner's, operators, and staff) as well as the PPD officers and the Department! What kind of training is given to all of these people I have mentioned? Does Miller's Merry Manor NOT have transport of their own to take a patient literally around a corner to a hospital, is there no doctor on call to administer a sedative IF needed, is there no person to call a family member when there is a patient having an "episode" at the time of the said episode (not after), is the staff trained to call 911 when a PATIENT is having a bad day? In my eyes there should be some firing done and some changes made at Miller's or their doors should be closed! And as for PPD... this town protects their own USUALLY! Just like the police officer who killed a mail lady a few years back! Wasn't following procedure, had his lights on, but no sirens, going at a high rate of speed, and ran into her head on. MANY people dont know about this... WHY... because it was dealt with behind closed doors. And it was allowed to be dealt with that way! The public needs to step up to this town! People cry about the parks being vandalized but they do not attend a meeting or send one letter in to the mayor, or visit the police station to demand for more police presence, people sit by and watch as the two main roads in the town are beautified while the budget for things like training our officers and hiring worthy police officers goes by the waste side!

This cop used to sit outside my house... Where my kids play as well as many others on 7th ST. When I approached him with a question he was very nice, polite, and respectful. Yes I saw him on N Broadway and he was on the side street catching people that were really speeding. I worked for Dominos at

You are absolutely right. The police in this town can do almost anything they want. What's worst is that this city will try their damndest to hush anything that proves that they have done wrong. Not all the police are like this, but those who are are giving the rest of them a bad reputation.

Don't speed or do anything illegal and they wont bother you. Most people don't care about them till they need them. Most people like yourself probably don't know that they also will respond on medical calls to help assist EMS and some also have an AED in their car for cardiac arrest. You cant ever have to much protection that goes for Police, Fire, EMA and ect. To all emergency responders THANK YOU for all you do!

You could be helping an elderly woman cross the street and get pulled over and accused of robbing her.

PPD is worthless, useless, and a waste of tax dollars! And believe me they do let child molesters go free, and violent criminals walk! I know for 100 % fact! The lazy f*cks will do anything for an informant. Tell me they do their jobs while I pay for counseling, and hold my daughter and rock her to sleep at night! I put blankets over the windows because she is afraid her perp will find her and look in her windows. Police found the molester, he failed a polygraph, he was guilty! He walks no charges!!!! If I seek my own justice, I go to jail.

Cops in peru are lame they turn their lights on to go through red lights to get to gallahans and if you go through a yellow light they will ticket you and say why are you nervous so they can check your car to find a reason to take your money, car and anything of value.
And the uneducated people that run peru and have forever are owners, family of owners or grew up together with local store owners. So they wont let new business's come here, same shit stores no one shops at this should be the first clue to why everyone goes to Kokomo, wabash and logansport to shop but their not smart enough to see this If you love fast food, gas stations and Fines Welcome to Peru.
I about forgot, if you want to see one of the most LUXURIOUS updated towns in the world take a trip down broadway.

You make more money with traffic stops then solving crime. Peru cops are notorious for being crooked.
